We visited this "museum" and restaurant and were very impressed. You need to make a reservation to visit the cellar with more than 3500 bottles of whisky. After the visit we enjoyed a really good lunch. Nice trip when it is raining!

Left with a bottle of whisky and a jar of whisky mustard both reasonably priced. The owner opened the museum for us, even though it was not officially a visiting day. The owner was an expert and had visited nearly all the distilleries himself. The place is deep in the cellar, and is prepared for a banquet. I would like to have stayed for a meal but pre booking is recommended, the upstairs restaurant was full of bikers and other tourists. As I live in Köln I will definitely go there again. Wonderful, and so is the whiskey. Take a car, the climb to the museum is very steep and there are plenty of parking spaces

Wonderful place to visit for the whisky fan. The food is terrific, the atmosphere and host/chef was nothing short of amazing, and the whisky selection...oh, my...fantastic! Over 3000 bottles I believe. The price is really fair and I will definitely bring family & friends every time!

Yes, there is a world-class whisky museum located in central Germany. Amazing setting that is tucked into the historic Kyrburg castle ruins. We had a group of about 12 adults. Great food and a really informative tasting. When they heard it was my birthday, they poured me a glass of whisky from my birth year. Pretty amazing. If you coordinate with them in advance and have a big enough party, he can do the entire presentation in English or at least come over to your table and give you some information in English if you have a smaller group. From the location, to the food, to the whisky to the people, it was a great experience.

This was a really neat place. The dinner (salmon the night we went) was very good. The whisky tasting was fun and informative. Just imagine how good it would have been if I understood German! The entertainment (bagpipes on arrival and a singer/guitarist during the tasting) was also very good. It was a fun experience.

This is the second time I have visited the Kyrburg. First time was for the whiskey museum which is interesting and relaxing.The scond visit the restaurant had finished being refurbished. it is tastefully decorated and the views are spectacular. The food was well presented and cooked, although the set menu was not to my taste (black pudding spring roll!) There is a good choice of wines, and the bar area is very nice indeed.Will be back, but will possibly not have set menu.

This restaurant is set on a hilltop beside the ruins of castle. The location is simply stunning.There is a huge terrace outdoors that overlooks Kirn and incorporates some of the castle ruins. Traditional and classy, the spacious indoor seating looked lovely as well... the entire restaurant, including the restrooms were beautifully appointed. There is a whiskey museum in the cellar that is visually impressive - and seems if you are a whiskey connoisseur you may want to make a trip here for their tastings. There is a wedding chapel in the castle ruins, and with the style and fine quality interior decorations of the restaurant... it would be a dream location for a wedding with plenty of space.

Wir waren dort zum Whisky Tasting. Sehr schön eingedeckte Tische. Tolle Begrüßung, mit Witz, Gesang und Dudelsackspieler. Sehr schön eingerichtet. Nette Details zum Thema Whisky. Selbst auf den Toiletten stehen an den Waschbecken Jonny Walker Flaschen, als Seifenspender. Tolles Menü: Vorsuppe, Currysuppe; Hauptgang: Steak mit Beilage, Dessert: Scotchdessert mit Sahne. Danach in den Whisky Keller, sehr urig, liebe zum Detail. Unglaublich viel Flaschen und Details, die für Whisky Herstellung gebraucht werden. Super Vorführung und Erklärung. Selbst für Leute die kein Whisky probieren möchten, und nur Begleitpersonen sind, wie ich, war es sehr interessant und lehrreich. Nach dem Tasting gab es noch eine leckere Suppe und Gesang, und jeder konnte noch andere Whiskysorten probieren.Alles in allem sehr toll, und sehr empfehlenswert.

Vielmehr das Gefühl zu Hause bei Freunden zu sein, die zauberhafte Atmosphäre, die Gastfreundschaft, das gute Essen und die echte Freundlichkeit lassen uns immer wieder hierher zurück kehren.Mögen es mindestens noch einmal zehn Jahre werden.Daniela Seegardel

Die Kyrburg liegt hoch über Kirn und bietet einen schönen Blick über die Stadt. Der Aussenbereich und die Terrasse laden zum Verweilen ein und auch im alten Gemäuer herumzuwandern ist sehr interessant. Ein Blick in die Speisekarte veranlaßte uns allerdings wieder zu gehen. Im Freien sitzen und dann für ein simples vegetarisches Gericht 16 € zahlen war uns selbst die Aussicht nicht wert. Schade, bei humanen Preisen würden sicher mehr Gäste bei ihrem Besuch auch dort speisen.
