I walked the 2 km from Oberkirch station on a warm August afternoon, and it was definitely worth the uphill climb. The scenery on the way, of vineyards, orchards and lovely homes and gardens, along with patches of cool forest, makes it interesting. Even with lots of photo stops, it only took half an hour right to the ruins. The view from there is spectacular, and you can then reward yourself with a cool drink or coffee and cake at the restaurant just below the ruins. On the way down, you can take an alternative path, only slightly longer, the "Weinwanderweg", which leads right through the vineyards and the very pretty village of Gaisbach and back to Oberkirch. Make sure you look inside the little chapel of St George you will find in Gaisbach.

Afterbrunel

Ruined castle, it's a long way up a very winding and narrow road and you have to park considerably far below the actual castle. We admired it from the car park and then drove down again.

Stewsview

We parked in Oberkirch on the main street and walked here - after finding a hiking path. Definitely worth it - the ruins of the 1000 year old castle stir the imagination, and the restaurant beside it is lovely with great food and service.

Dort oben gibt es zwei gute Aussichtspunkte wobei man bei dem einen über die komplette rheinebene bishin zu den Vogesen blicken kann. Ruine Schauenburg ist auch gut. Außerdem gibt's dort oben ein kleines feines Restaurant.

Ne montez pas pour le château proprement dit, mais l'endroit est très calme et agréable. Par beau temps vous pouvez voir la cathédrale de Strasbourg au loin.

Ein sehr schon Hotel, ein schonste Garten und ein sehr Gastfreudlich Personnal. Kann man sehr viele andere Activitat machen fur Beispiel : wandern, schwimmen, ski fahren ..... und noch mehr !

Een leuke wandeling vanuit het stadje Oberkirch naar de Schauenburg. We hadden een prachtig uitzicht over de stad, het was er lekker rustig. Het restaurant aldaar is 's maandags dicht dat was jammer. Je kan vanuit daar nog veel meer mooie wandelingen maken

Wer nicht einmal auf der Schauenburg war, der war auch nicht in Oberkirch. So viel sei schon mal gesagt. Diesen traumhaften Ausblick darf man nicht verpassen. Bei guter Sicht kann man die französischen Vogesen sehen. Und für das leibliche Wohl ist in der Burgwirtschaft gesorgt.
