Not much left of the city it once was, so all you see is rebuilt. But that is excellent: it gives you a very good impression of a Roman house, you can visit it all. It's also fascinating to see how big the place was. Don't miss the museum, with the remnants of the old town bath house and many other exhibits on the same location.Highly recommended, even if you have visited Italian museums. In fact, at least here they explain you what things are for, rather than telling you boring stories about the date and artist you produced a statue, as in Italy (in fact there is often pretty much no information in Italy compared to what you get here!)

We visited the LRV Roman museum again. My history-major son said it was maybe the best museum he has seen. Great collection, well presented. We learned a lot about the history of the Romans in Germany. The audio guide and description are superb. Also the Roman therms are presented in their original location in condition. We like that better than the park.

Took my canadian friend and she was impressed! I have been to the park several times and it is great to see that they are still finding relics and that they still do their reserch. My friend was stunned and overwhelmed by what she learned about the Romans.

Why you should consider not going there...It's not finished. It's under construction. You pay 9 euro's for a site that is not finished. At all. There are fences. Lots of fences. Lot of grass as well. Kilometres of grass and fences and a couple of unfinished structures. We came from the Netherlands, to visit the temple of the Matronae. On the routemap/brochure we've got, this temple is clearly pointed out. We did our research on internet, we saw some pictures, So we went to Germany, got to this parc, we walked and we searched. Maybe there is a temple, but you can't see it or can't get there. There is just a big fence. On the site of this place they mention the temple as well. But when we asked some of the people over there, they tell you this: it's not there, or not finished, or behind the fence. It's a bizarre place. A plaquette near a square of grass mentions a burialmound, a woman was once buried here. Nice information but...there is no burialmound. Just grass. So let's get this straight: this parc advertizes with a temple of the matrones (Goddesses) and other structures, but when you're there you can't get there nor see it. A lot of the structures mentioned on the site are simply not there. Maybe they will be there one day, but at the moment there is not much to see. Tip: if you really want to go there to see lots of grass, unfinished structures and fences, don't pay. Drive up to the parkinglot, and go in there. For free. You can just walk in. Use the money to get a cup of coffee instead :-)

A good day out for a reasonable price, they clearly state what was original and what was a replica, most of the things are written in English, the only down side is that the week end shows are only in german. There is a picnic area, and a play park for the younger children and the coffee is the same price as you would pay in any café locally.

Architecturally, the model for this museum seems to be a shopping mall. The effect is oddly off-putting. Also, there is too much reliance on models and replicas--very few authentic displays. On the other hand, if you spend the time and read the labels and use the ample multi-media aids, you'll learn a lot, at a price.
