4 friends visit to see a bundedliga game friday night.I will start with the search for tickets on ticketborse. Very good web site. Very good service. Only problem is that you need an adress in germany. The arena is super. Parking needs to be a bit far but the atmosphere, services, order and general feeling in the arena are super for a soccer match.

Went here for a wee football tourist trip with my brother to watch Schalke vs Wolfsburg.I found it nothing special to look at from the outside, but there was plenty activity around the outside of the stadium to keep the supporters entertained, including a stage with a live band, football related games, beer and food stalls. You do have to queue for a bit to get into the stadium due to stringent security checks, but I found it amusing that you could carry your pint of beer into the stadium with you, as if I tried that in any SPL ground I would have been arrested. The stadium inside itself is stunning. A complete modern sporting arena with a retractable roof that amplifies the noise of the crowd to deafening levels. We got cracking seats near the front next to the away support who were incredibly noisy too which made for a cracking atmosphere for the full 90 minutes. There was plenty of beer and food stalls so not much waiting time at half-time for your beers etc, although you have to buy a pre-paid card to buy them. However, there did not seem to be many toilet facilities, and my brother missed 10 minutes of the second half waiting in line to use the toilet. But other than that it was a great day out in there and opened my eyes to what a proper football day out should be instead of the many dead and sterile atmospheres you get in many English and Scottish grounds.Totally recommend coming here at some point to take in a game. You won't be disappointed, in fact my brother and I are planning to go back this March/April.

Superb atmosphere, exactly how it looks on tv when the german supporters are cheering for their team. Downside was that they didnt sell beer with alcohol.(Was there 2011 but I couldnt choose that in the list.)

Lovely stadium. Great views all round. There is a sliding roof and even when open the design means the noise generated by the enthusiastic fans stays in the stadium. Lots of car parking around and trams to the ground are very frequent and well organised - they were queueing up to take fans away after the game so little waiting. Went to a Champions League game and as an away fan expected to be kept in the ground afterwards until the home fans had cleared but this didn't happen. Only down side was catering - you had to put money on a card to buy food and drink and inevitably there is money left on it which is too much hassle to claim back.

One of my favourite European grounds. Great atmosphere as ever. Love the German fans, even with Schalke losing they sang their hearts out

I had been to watch a Champions League game between Schalke and Chelsea (yay, Chelsea won by a big margin!). And it was an extremely unforgettable experience, not just for the match, but the stadium itself was really brilliant. It is a world class stadium with great facilities. If you are a football fan then this is a must visit place to watch a Schalke game, the home fans are amazing and create a great atmosphere. Very passionate fans. Also, the stadium is very big (61000 capacity) but the views are very good, even from the top. Accessibility from the city centre is by tram (no. 302, direct from Bochum hbf, goes via Gelsenkirchen hbf), and on matchdays if you have a ticket, then travel is free. Inside the stadium there are various counters to buy food and drink, but they have a special card loaded with currency, they do not accept cash. After the match you can return the card and get the remainder of the balance refunded. In a nutshell, an amazing stadium to visit for a football fan, tickets for Bundesliga games are cheap but hard to get.

Went here for Chelsea away. The ground is modern and classy.Very clean for a football stadium also. I like the unique big tv up high to see the scoreboard and other statics. If you're high up As long as you are under the poles and infrastructure you will have a good view, otherwise it'll be restricted. As my seat was high and the view wasn't good. So I moved down more and had a great view of the football in play. The next day I even came back for the stadium tour. €5 as I'm under 21 and that was nice way to kill an hour and a half. I specifically liked the unique players tunnel that has the history of Gelsenkirchen coal mining history at heart. If you have the chance to go here. It's worth going I think

Travelled to Veltins Arena for Schalke v Chelsea. Fantastic stadium, organisation (for Germans) very poor,as more tickets were released by Schalke for Chelsea fans, two entrances were used,we were directed to the wrong entrance, had to walk through a muddy car park, then queue with the Schalke fans (no segregation) for at least 20 minutes, missing the first goal.Still great result in the end. Atmosphere was electric.

Get Tram 302 from Gelsenkirchen hbf low level. Great stadium footprint out in suburbs. Tour was okay but Schalke fans would take more out of it
