We visited on a quiet day and therefore one of volunteers was happy to give us a demonstration of how some of the machines worked. The museum is split over two sites. Naturally we went to the weaving mill first which was the building indicated as the museum on my google map. There is free parking outside and one can walk from here to the spinning mill and the city centre.Despite our poor command of German and the volunteer's broken English we got a good understanding of the weaving processes. We were also able to understand the role which the textile industry played in this part of the region and the large numbers of people employed. I see, with hindsight, that there was a worker's cottage available to visit but we seemed to have missed this, perhaps we didn't understand all the signs. We walked to the spinning mill and this was a disappointment. Most of the rooms were locked and the fashion display room did not open until 2pm. This part of the museum appeared to be more for the arts and crafts of textiles rather than displaying a representation of spinning. We saw a notice, perhaps in our leaflet, which said that the museum does have further plans for presenting other aspects of the textile industry in the area. One assumes this is dependent on finance.We ate in the restaurant which was not particularly cheap but the choice of food was more interesting than the usual schnitzels.We specifically wanted to see this museum and went out of our way to visit it, I am glad we did. Cost was 3E entry which was more than reasonable. We spent two hours in the weaving mill alone, even though it is not actually that large. More for adults than children who might see every machine as much the same without understanding the 'progress' of each machine.

Eine ausgezeichnte Alternative MIT fantastischer Aussicht. The food choice is exceptional. Excellent value for money... However be there for opening time as advertised. No queuing , remember you are in Deutschland. Who arrives first gets the choice of table... there is no new food added once the buffet is opened. We visited to see the manufacturing equipment and history of the industrial processes but found our 3 year old was fascinated by the small original locomotive, freight cars and train turntable outside. A nice place to visit and with a very nice restaurant.

This museum shows everything from the past until now, regarding textile weaving. The volunteers show you how every machine works and the old steam engine is nicely kept and shows that in the past they even made workspaces like this a nice place to be, with the details in decoration.

Wonderful museum with the original flooring and machines used during the pre- union industrial period.They have some of the original housing used by workers and their families.The only problem was that none of the info plaques were in english. We had a german speaking person with us and one of our group was a textile artist so they could explain.

Ob zur Weihnachtszeit, im Sommer oder zur Mai-Tour, das Textilwerk - Textilmuseum Bocholt ist immer einen Besuch wert, verdeutlicht es doch die Geschichte der Textilindustrie Bocholts auf komplett handfeste Weise.

Das Textilmuseum bietet viele Information um die Weberei und Textilien.Hier ist eine kleine Siedlung gebaut worden, wie früher gelebt wurde. Sehr sehenswert!Auch in der dunklen Jahreszeit wird Kulturelles geboten. Es findet ein Adventsmarkt statt, mit einer lieben Vorlesefrau, die ausgewählte Geschichten in einem der kleinen Häuser vorliest. Warm am Ofen in der Küche, sehr schön für Kinder.Viel Selbstgestaltetes wird angeboten und auch der Nikolaus verteilt Süßes.Neben dem Museum gehts zum Schiffchen, ein Restaurant - auch hier kannman gut einkehren.Das Textilmuseum liegt an der Aa, es gibt einen schönen Fuß-und Radweg - direkt gegenüber der Aasee - auch hier gibts schöne Plätze zum verweilen und Spielen.Für mich als Bocholter ist das Textilmuseum inkl Aasee immer ein Ausflug wert!

Einfach genial! Sehr sehenswert. Es ist ein Muss dort gewesen zu sein und es ist cool. Tolle Räume gute Abfahrt uns nah an der Stadt gelegt und am Aa See.

Immer wieder zieht es uns nach Bocholt ins Textilmuseum , besonders an veregneten Tagen ! Erst fuhren wir mit unseren Kindern dorthin - nun sind die Enkel dran . Es ist spannend zu sehen , wenn im " Kraftraum ( Maschinenraum ) " die Dampfmaschine angestellt wird - heute mit Strom - die großen Räder langsam in Schwung kommen und sich das Pleuel immer schneller hin und her bewegt . Wenn dann noch die Riemen aufgelegt werden , dass sie die Arbeitsgeräte in der Werkstatt auch noch zu laufen beginnen , dann wird es sogar noch schöner ! Im Websaal kann man die Webstühle in Aktion erleben , was natürlich von einer enormen Lautstärke begleitet wird . Spannend fanden die Kinder die hin und her flitzenden Websschützen . Die hier gewebten Handtücher ,Trockentücher und Tischdecken gibt es in verschiedenen Farben und Bindungen im Museumsshop käuflich zu erwerben . Sie haben sich in unserem Haushalt als sehr langlebig erwiesen .Für Kinder steht ein Handwebstuhl bereit , an dem sie testen können , wie langwierig und schwierig es früher war , eine gleichmäßig gewebte Ware herzustellen . Zudem gibt es noch ein Kontor , in dem viele alte Dokumente zu finden sind . Ein nachgebautes , mit alten Möbeln eingerichtetes Arbeiterhaus gibt es auch noch . Hier hat man einen kleinen Einblick , wie die Menschen dort auf wenig Raum gelebt und gewirtschaftet haben . Hinter diesem Haus schließt sich ein Nutzgarten an, indem alles angepflanzt wird , was früher in solchen Gärten angebaut wurde .In diesem Museum gibt es immer Austellungen von Künstlern und besondere Angebote für Kinder ( und Erwachsene ! ) .Die Mitarbeiter scheinen den " Vollen Durchblick " zu haben , was Maschinen- und Warenkunde betrifft . Wahrscheinlich haben sie einmal selber in dieser Branche gearbeitet . Zudem sind sie sehr freundlich und äußerst hilfsbereit .Eintrittspreise : für Kinder unter 6 Jahren - 0 € , von 6 - 17 Jahren - 1,50 € und für Erwachsene - 3 € ! Ich finde , das ist ein wirklich preiswertes Vergnügen .Um Hunger und Durst zu entgehen - direkt angegliedert ist ein nettes Restaurant !
