Thessaloniki was built after the death of Alexander the great but you feel that Alexander and his family still lives here You have the feeling that this capital of Makedonia in north Greece ,the co capital of Greece is the city of Alexander's sucessors From Thessaloniki we visited pella and the royal toms of vergina which both are very close to the city This way Thessaloniki become the center for the visits to all makedonian archeological visits

They build their hero statues huge. But I've gotta love a man who looks better in a skirt than I do.

Beautiful satute and location. Quick walk to the white Tower and to the umbrellas art installation. Fair warning my kiddos laughed at the "realistic" qualities of the horse.

In the city, on the main square (Alexander the Great), there is a huge statue (Alexander the Great on horseback), in the street (Alexander the Great), across from the eponymous school! In the upper part of the city you will find a "slice" of the archaeological site. Nearby is famouse Whyte Tower, where is Byzantine museum.

A brilliantly-located statue on the water with a snow-covered Mt. Olympus visible in the background. The statue appears to be ready for take-off, and the accompanying shields and bas relief were also a nice touch.

Nice location for this statue and its accompanying monument ( a bronze plaque and some bronze shields) right on the waterfront. On a really clear day, you'll see Mount Olympus across the bay as a background. Some nice photographic opportunities at sunset around this, and the rest of the waterfront.

This is a great statue by North America standards, but in a continent of really great and a lot of statues this is not the most impressive nor unique. However it has a wonderful setting near the water, in a large open square. The walk up to it along the promenade is worth while and a perfect photo opp.

The monument is definitely worth getting a picture of it. There is other displays with the monument that are also worth looking at.
