One of the stops during our day-long tour of Naxos Island was the Eggares Olive Press Museum. We were greated enthusiastically by the staff and offered an informative tour of the facility. Samples of their products were available for tasting, and we were treated to a slice of delicious orange cake and home-made cookies, both made with their own olive oil.

It was so interesting learning about the olive press and how olive oil is made! We were given complimentary bread with olive oil, marmalade spreads, and cookies, all of which were delicious!

Nice little stop on our day drive around the island. Despite our obsession with TA, we had not heard of this place but stumbled upon it on our way back from Apollonas. Nice outdoor seating area where we enjoyed some coffee and a lemon cake made with olive oil instead of butter. The ladies then gave us a brief tour of the olive press and its history. After this we were able to try various olive based products including some olive marmalade, tapenades, skin lotion and of course olive oil. Its a nice stop on your drive and worth 45 mins or so between a coffee, brief tour and some tasting. The olive oil and tapenades made for some nice gifts to bring back for friends and family!

Staff are very passionate and although small it is a very interesting trip into the history of one of the main industries on Naxos. Well worth the stop over and you can enjoy a quiet drink in the small but very well priced cafe.

Great effort by the owner who put in a lot of passion in order to transform this olive press into a well-informing museum on the process followed in order to produce olive oil, with the original equipment staying in excellent condition despite their age. There is a small cafe right next to it, where you can taste some local home-made products, too!

The Olive Press was one of my highlights while visiting Naxos! The owner was so friendly and helpful, and she let us taste all of the products she had for sale. She made a delicious olive cake, which paired perfectly with the olive marmalade and fig jam. The museum is pretty neat, and it is very close (10 minute drive). An absolute must while you are in Naxos! To read more about it, check out my blog post - http://livingtoat.com/portfolio/eggares-olive-press/

The enthusiasm and passion of the owner and staff is contagious. We had a concise but informative tour and then we we offered to try many of the olive related goodies. The olive jam was divine. So nice to see people who love what they do and sharing it with people. Gorgeous! Must do in Naxos

The owner, Nicoletta, gave a brief but animated explanation of the traditional way olives were harvested and pressed. Her pride in the family business was readily apparent. The generous offerings of tasting items, with no obligation to purchase, was a relaxing way to sample the multiple products made from their olive oil.

We read about this place here on Tripadvisor and decided it would make a great last stop on a day trip around the island. It was very interesting to hear how olives used to be pressed and how many uses there were for olives. The gentleman who explained it all made it come alive. There was no hard sell to buy anything, but since I am a ardent fan of olives, I couldn't help buying a few items (all homemade), including olive oil, small herbal mixed olive oils and a orange chutney. We had a lovely cup of tea and homemade cake.A lovely relaxing visit in a beautiful small building. We also heard the other lady speaking French to some other tourists so I think they are multi lingual as well.Go, learn and relax, you will enjoy it.

We stopped here for a coffee and although the museum is small, the patron showed us around and gave us some samples of really good local produce. It was fascinating and a really good place to get interesting gifts and have a coffee.
