These magnificent lions lined up in a row is a marvel to behold. It was hot when we were there last summer--take a hat.

Before you go to the replicas, go to the museum to see the originals. Also look and wonder at the 70 or so statues that were created during the sixth century BC and consider where Britain was at this point. Also ponder on the fact that Britain almost ruled the world during the 1800's!!! Where did it all go wrong?

What you need to know is that the lions presented there are only copies, the originals which remain are in the museum at the site.

This whole island is amazing! It is a short boat ride from Mykonos, but on very windy days, it may not run, so plan ahead. The island used to hold the treasury of Athens, and it still holds a treasure trove of artifacts. Loved it!

The island I think is only accessible by boat. The island hold lots of history. We did not take a cruise tour. Mistake. There is so much here one must have a guided tour which is not available on your own. The museum had a friendly English speaking person who helped us understand the history. The museum is also important to visit. Do you miss the island..and remember to get a guide.

A spectacular sight, but the lions are copies. The real ones are inside the museum, which is well worth a visit. The museum is included in the ticket you buy to get inside the island.

Although you can not get close to the lion statues, there is one located in the museum which is located on the island.

While in Delos you cannot miss visiting the avenue of the lions you feel a part of history that does have the wow factor

Majestic lions emerge from ruins along the path on Delos, a sacred island sanctuary in the Aegean. Inside the museum nearby, are several more of these majestic lions.

Many statuary were situated along this avenue and a row of lions overlooked it, some of which are displayed as copies on their original platforms. In April the wildflowers highlight the scene.
