It is worth going. Tons of steps down, so going is not that bad, but coming back up is certainly a trek, but very doable. We got a bit lost going through town to find the stairway down to the Rock, but we eventually made it. We didn't head down to the chapel, but the view from the top is very nice. It's certainly a different view of Santorini and it is definitely not commercialized. Watch your step, but not a difficult hike. As far as the last few metres, it is doable with some common sense. Obviously watch your step and ideally have proper footwear. A previous review said that when you think you have gotten to the end, look right and you will see some foot holds in the rocks for you to climb up. It's only about 3-5 metres to the top. Not bad at all. Once you get to the top, it is flat. Becareful coming down, it may be a good idea for someone to stay behind to spot the person coming down and take turns going up.

We stayed in an amazing suite on the cliff near the Skaros Rock. We decided late one afternoon to climb the rock. It was a workout because we first walked down from the cliff we were on, then up the rock, and then down the other side! When we got to the peak, we saw a beautiful, white chapel at the base of the other side. So cool! Then we walked down to the chapel. Of course, we then did the reverse walk back to our suite. It was a cool, breezy afternoon so we had great weather for the long trek. It was pleasant and the view of the cliff we were staying was worth the walk. There are no safety cables to keep you from falling. My husband stood on the edge holding to a thin piece of wire that once gave a little to protect. We laughed at how the US has everything overly protected due to crazy lawsuits. Here - an adventurer can really enjoy skill and freedom!

Found this place while hiking through Firas. Beautiful views of the sea and Fira from here . Was quite windy the day I visited so didn't get to see other side of the rock but amazing views.

That you could see Santorini from a different vantage point. Great views and setting. Good for some wine at sunset but bring with you a flashlight for walking back at night

Loved this rock - SO many steps, so great for the legs, but this little trip will give you a great sense of adventure! We got about 1 metre from the top! I slightly chickened out of really going for it as I was worried I would not be able to get back down! but had such good fun figuring out which route to take and we sat on a rock outlooking the sea and watched the sunset!Awesome time! I love Santorini!

After having discovered that The Rock was once the capital of Santorini and created by the Venetians, i had to visit. The remains and foundations of the buildings evidence what once was a great historic city in a spectacular setting! Great for spending an afternoon there and watching the sunset

Excellent work out for quads. No really, it was not that bad. The ruins are really cool and there are a bunch of neat surprises on the back side not to mention the view.

Once you find the path, its a trek down a steep and in places broken flight of steps. The rock itself is covered in ruins and the summit is only accessible with rock climbing skills.Take strong shoes, water and be good with heights if you want to visit here, but you will be rewarded with a fabulous view of the caldera.
