We travel to Greece almost every year, and in the last two years we have discovered Domaine Skouras. We will be making our third visit in just a few weeks. The winery is about a 2 hour drive from Athens on excellent highways and well worth the trip. Domaine Skouras is in the wine region of Nemea, a Protected Designation of Origin for Greek red wines. They are also very close to the wine region of Mantinia, a PDO for white wines. As a result, Skouras vineyards throughout the area produce grapes resulting in both complex red and delightful white wines. Approaching the Skouras Estate, the first thing one notices is the large, lovely terracotta-colored building surrounded by vineyards. The building contains state-of-the-art wine cellars, several tasting areas, and a wine bar, as well as a small wine museum. On both occasions we visited, we were greeted at the winery by Dimitris, who was our host through a winery tour and our guide into the world of Greek wines. Dimitris was knowledgeable and passionate about the Skouras wines. His enthusiasm, and his detailed and colorful descriptions of each wine enhanced the tasting experience. We began our tasting journey with a variety of white wines, our favorites being those made from the indigenous Greek varietal, moscofilero. Salto Wild Yeast, for example, is a special white not to be missed, with its fruity nose, and surprising and delightful acidic finish. The other whites from the Greek roditis grape, as well as from viognier and chardonnay grapes were also unique and refreshing. The red wines were a totally different experience but equally as interesting and pleasant. The Greek varietal, aghiorghitiko or Saint George, has made Nemea a world-famous wine region, and it represents the PDO. The Skouras reds containing this grape, either in a blend or standing on its own, have great character and complexity. Each of these wines is unique and ready to drink, and many will improve in the cellar for years. The Megas Oenos was our favorite, with a nose of ripe fruit and spice. These aromas are also first experienced in the mouth, followed by soft tannins and a long-lasting finish. We look forward to tasting some of the wines we have cellared. We were also pleasantly surprised to taste Fleva, a wine made from 100% syrah. Although we have been trying to stay with the indigenous Greek grapes, this wine opened our minds and our pallets! Fleva is a delightful, well-rounded wine. With an intense nose of dark fruits and herbs, it is full-bodied with ripe tannins and a smooth but complex finish. Easy to drink and our go-to wine, especially in cool weather and with heavy meals.A trip to Domaine Skouras is a treat for the senses and an experience in wine education. If you think of Greek wine as no more than the humble retsina, think again. Domaine Skouras will delight and enlighten you, and introduce you to some wonderful new Greek wines!

We visited here with Greek friends, and were really impressed. Our welcome was very friendly and Dimitris led us through a wine tasting with humour and skill. We had a tour through the building to see how the wine was made and then stored, which we enjoyed. Loved the wines and bought some home. Greek wines are definitely undergoing something of a renaissance!

As almost every year we start our Holiday in greece buying red, white and rose wines at Domaine Skouras. It is always a pleasure talkung to the People there, topped only by drinking their wine afterwards... The Rose ist perfect for Greece, the Reds are now in my cellar back home.

We stopped here on the way from Nafplio to Athens. They were very friendly, and gave us a tour of the winery before giving us a tasting. The wine was very good, and they employees were very knowledgeable.

The winery is located in the road leading to Argos from the motorway Athens-Tripolis; someone should turn right just after the 124th km. from Athens and then will meet the winery in its right hand, after I think 10km. In all cases it's worthwhile to be visited. Welcoming warmth from Dimitris and Skouras himself (he was the day we visited it) would have been enough. However, the architectural concept, the attention to detail, the environment and of course the wines make the visit in this winery a must. Skouras is not a new person in Greek wine industry, beyond his wine and business skills remains a sofisticated figure among the Greek winemakers. He is trying for many years targeting quality and with steady steps goes ahead. We extended our visit to 3 hours and we didn't want to leave. Just try, among all, Megas Oinos, Viogner eclectique and Fleva, their unbelievable Syrah!

Well worth a stop by. Excellent wine with great hosts. I never thought I'd find a little Napa Valley in Greece, but they proved me wrong.

One of the best winery I ever saw, and excellent wines. Especially the Megas oenos (red wine) and the Grand Curvee (red again)

We stopped on the way back to Athens to stretch our legs. We ended up being guided around the winery by an enthusiastic guide (Dimitri). He shared his knowledge & love of wine while keeping it interesting for younger audiences. The winery itself is well designed with attention to detail in every space we entered. At the end we did some wine tasting and he showed us how to taste it properly. All members of our party thought the wine was fabulous.A visit to please almost all sensations. Vision, taste, smell, hearing found enough to satisfy them.
