I loved being there for the brief time... It was enough.The beautiful (and eerie) feeling of looking at the holy picture of Archangel Michael was heart-warming.A place for every believer of Christian faith to visit. The swords that are presented as gifts to the Archangel are also magnificent.

The MUST VISIT of Lesvos; it doesn't matter the reason!I always visit the monastery and kneel the sacred live (!) icon when I visit the island.Fortunately the monastery remains simple and humble as every such place must look and this is what touches your heart and emotions more!Mantamathos, the nearby big village is very traditional and a sightseeing too

One of the most important Churches of Lesvos, Taxiarchis in Mantamados is dedicated to Archangel Michael. It's not a Monastery any more but it is one of the most interesting monuments of the island.Do not miss the icon of Taxiarchis created with ground and blood of monks who were killed by pirates. The icon was created by the only survivor monk.

The Commander of Lesvos Monastery is one of the most important places in Mytiline Island to visit.Very interesting and exciting inner part of this nice construction.Strongly recommended to visit this nice Monastery.

this monastry is such a touching place, it's story and location will touch everyone from the spiritual to the sightseer. the drive alone is lovely but once inside it is a beautiful building with must see detailing.

ένα μοναστήρι που περιβάλλεται απο ελιές αιώνων....φτάνοντας βλέπεις ένα υπέροχο μοναστηρι πέτρινο, απόλυτα εναρμονισμένο με το όμορφο τοπίο...μπαίνοντας στην κεντρική είσοδο μια μεγάλη εικόνα ασημένια με την μορφή του Ταξιάρχη επιβλητική που σε διαπερνάει ακόμα και εάν δεν πιστευεις....το εσωτερικό του μοναστηριού είναι όμορφο, αλλά αυτό που σε μαγνητίζει είναι η το πρόσωπο του ταξιάρχη φτιαγμένο από τον μοναχό που σωθηκε,με πηλό χώμα και το αίμα των μοναχών που σφαγιάστηκαν....δέος , κατάνυξη, πίστη βαθιά που τη νιώθεις να σε κυριεύει και να μην θέλεις να φύγεις από εκεί....μοναστηρια σαν αυτό σε κάνουν να είσαι σίγουρος για το πόσο ζωντανή και αληθινή είναι η πίστη μας....οπωσδήποτε πρέπει να το επισκεφτείτε ότι θρησκεία και εάν ακολουθείτε, ακόμα και εάν δεν ακολουθείτε....

Το θεαμα καταπληκτικο.Ακομα και για καποιον που δεν ειναι Χριστιανος,το δεος που σε κατακλυζει οταν αντικρυζεις τις εικονες-αγαλματα,το εσωτερικο του ναου,τα ταματα και ολα τα υπολοιπα ειναι κατι πρωτογνωρο.
