We were lucky with the weather and the view was amusing! Definitely must to do if you are around. Dress up warm.

The reason i say this is the way the Austrians treated us was incredible, they gave us a lift from the car park right to the ticket booth, then another booked us onto the cable car without having to queue, I was travelling with someone getting on in years and the service was very good and unusual to be made such a fuss of , Cable car ride was ok, weather was mixed and it was snowing a little, the one criticism is this , when the weathers windy and cold , everyone appears to end up in the restaurant , theres not enough space for for a really busy day, some were ski,ing but very few ventured onto the bridge and this was June! big queues but wasl a Saturday, and it was really busy, best time to go for a view would be 2 or 3 in afternoon when it quietened off, decent experience, top class service from staff at bottom of Gondola, nice views not on a par with the mont blancs or Eiger etc but worth a visit.

This is one amazing experience and awesome engineering. A panoramic cable car taking about 30 passengers will take you up to about 3000 meters on an unsupported cable (other than at the top and the bottom). Spectacular views at the top and loads of photo ops. Not cheap. Tip: there are just two gondolas and on one you can travel standing (very safely) outside and on the top. Awesome, I'd say. MUST be done on a clear day.

If you've been up a lot of other gondolas in the Alps, then there's not going to be much new to interest you here. Having said that, I've been up loads of gondolas in the Alps and I still really enjoyed it.Once at the top, there's a suspension bridge to walk across (for a small additional fee!), a glass floor to stand on (that's free) and year-round skiing/snowboarding if you're in to that sort of thing. When we were up there, there was also a trail of a couple of kilometers to a small mountain Hutte, where you could stop for a bite to eat. It took about 90 minutes to walk there and back and the views were brilliant (see the attached photo).

You stand in line and take a gondola to the top of the Daschstein, were ther is a glacier, summer skiing, etc. But once there, unless you are skiing or hiking on the glacier, there is not much to do except to go down.

Lärchbodenalm is a very good destination for a half day excursion, and even more, is weather-independent (excepting for serious storm). Anyway, a sunny day is preferable. The best access is through Feisterer valley (Feistererweg) and you can go by car till the hotel with the same name. Just follow the road 616. If you come from Schladming (B320) use the road to Ramsau Kulm, turn right to Ramsau Vordere for about 800 m, and you will see "Feisterer" on the left hand. From here follow the indicator that shows Lärchbodenalm 50 minutes and Guttenberg house (Guttenberghaus) 2 1/2 hours. You will find the same indicator over 10 minutes, but who cares about? The Kalcherwand is so beautiful. If you are not well trained, you must stop from time to time to adjust the breath. Altogheter, with stops, photos, cows and birds, it takes about one hour to cover the continuous ascending road till the hut. During this time you have to walk on a stone road from Ramsau (1050 to 1100 m) till Lärchbodenalm, at 1406 m.Lärchbodenalm is one of the most picturesque and rustic hut from the area, with small, wooden-made buildings. A small wooden-made, original chapel is located very close to the hut (Bergkapelle). The team is very young, nice, and makes everything possible to help you and to create a pleasant atmosphere. If you like sweets that are not so sweet, don't miss Lärchbodenschnitte (it is a kind of local cake) maybe combined with buttermilch. There are a lot of domestic animals and a very nice place for children. Lärchbodenalm is a very good stop if you plan to reach Guttenberg house (2134 m). You could remain in Guttenberg house overnight and to continue next day to Silberkarhütte, Silberkarklamm, Rössing and Ramsau. If not, the return to Ramsau lasts for no more than 30 minutes.Although you can make mistakes without my advices, remember the appropriate shoes, some protection against the rain/sun and don't make short-cuts on your own.

The sheer height and splendour of the Dachstein. Seeing a real glacier was amazing. The views were fantastic, we even saw birds that high up on the glacier. Excellent restaurant, good choice of food and friendly staff. We used our Summer Card which was free and it saved us a lot of much and made our trips very special.

To be in Dachsteinberg overviewing the beautiful Austrian scenery, was already a great experience. Even during the summer months this nature resort fulfill the dream of being on top of the Alps which still covered by snow. Though we took a cable car ride to the top and down, just the mere watching the activity and stroll for a while, already satisfy my dream to be in this mountainous yet magnificent mountain resort.I can not forget this beautiful experience in my life.
