Situated on the southern slopes of the Troodos mountain range is the picturesque village of Omodos. Centred around the village square are restaurants, coffee shops and craft shops andthe narrow streets are lined with flower pots brimming with colour. We found a gorgeous bakery selling cakes and pastries- delicious. We had traditional soup in one of the many tavernas and just wandered this very pretty village. The monastery of Timios Stavros is a must visit. In the church is a preserved piece of the Holy Rope , the rope with which Christ was bound. We hired a car to visit the area- all roads are well signposted.

Omodos is a success story of how to maintain a village in Cyprus when most people are seeking to move to the city. the church is beautifully preserved and a great attraction but the whole village square and the restaurants and cafes are delightful. We often go on Sunday for lunch and the opportunity to walk around and just have fun.A must!

One of the ‘Must visit’ villages of Cyprus, located 42 km northwest of Limassol. Along the Wine Route 4 there are 20 villages, one of which is Omodos, a very picturesque village that attracts at least one million visitors every year. The highlight is the big cobble-stone square, and the 17th century monastery of Holy Cross. There are several guest houses, coffee shops to rest and have a drink.

As a Cypriot we go often to Omodos, either for special occasion or just for weekend. It is very nice place, typical Mediterranean mountain village which was totally renewed some years ago. Beautiful like a small hidden diamond, yet vivid as it has big enough local society, primary and secondary school, perfect to see local life, buy souvenirs and enjoy fresh mountain air. Our favorite place after walk around is Kyr Yannis tavern, live music on weekends, special mountain menu and local wine. They have a guest house too, so you can rest after midnight dancing with locals! The next morning breakfast is must to try! Thought Omodos can be very busy on summer, you can fully enjoy it from September to June. Hot and crowded July-August. Must when you are in Cyprus!

You can visit a 17th century stone build monastery of Holy Cross, you will also find restaurants and nice traditional tavernas. The village produces a lot of wine which you can taste for free at many outlets. And then you can have your coffee in the best village square of Cyprus!!!

The picturesque village in the Limassol district situated in "wine" country high up in the mountains is a popular destination for tourists and locals. Its narrow winding streets are lined with pots of flowers and the houses lined with the traditional stone found in this area. There are shops selling hand made soaps and hand made blown glass art, jewellery and local craft shops. There are quite a few restaurants or what we Cypriots call "tavernas" all serving fresh, tasty Greek food. some even have live music,There is a large cobbled square (in GReek "plateia") where you can sit in the shade of the trees and drink coffee at a traditional coffee house where you can also visit the Monastery as both are situated in the centre of the village with plenty of parking space.Bear in mind that travelling in Cyprus is easy. The roads are good with clear signs. I consider it worth hiring a car to get around as most destinations are only one hour to two hours the most.

As one of the oldest villages in the mountains with an entrancing history (the Monastery at the centre of the village used to be named ' The Monastery of the shining light - a long story, to long for here). With its winding narrow streets and stone built houses and the last 'souk' in Cyprus plus the enormous cobbled square surrounded by little restaurants and interesting local shops, it's well worth a visit. The best and most interesting restaurant is 'Stour Kir Yianni'. Great food served in an interesting and novel way, sometimes with live music and always with charm.Visit this lovely village, you won't be disappointed.

I was staying at the Royal Apollonia in Limassol when I visited Omodus Village. The drive is quite long but so beautiful. There are so many wineries on the way that you can stop at for free wine tasting. Since you are driving higher up you get to see other villages and wine routes on the way as well. At the village there isn't much to see though. We were travelling with my 2 years old niece in a pram and the path was very rocky and really not easy go get on for wheel chairs and prams. There are a few cafes and restaurants to eat at and a few shops open with handmade goods.Since we visited during winter, the place was really quite and not many were opened. Although I did read that they have some wine festivals that take place here during the right season so check on that. I don't recommend visiting during winter only cause there isn't much to see or do here. They have a small Monastery if you want to check it.

Lovely village, very welcoming, charming shops and handmade goods. Real sense of the old Cyprus was readily available at this village.

If you want the real traditional village with a nice square and great tavernas, you definitely should go there.. also it has a very beautiful ancient church...the only problem for tourists it may be hard to find (in case you are driving yourself)
