参观 Kyrenia 的城堡，原来顺带有另一个景点。就是城内有一条古船。这一条古商船，是从附近的深海打转上来的，估计，已经有几千年的历史，而这船亦证明了，Kyrenia 在古时，除军事外，也是一个非常重要的商业港口。是一个物资丰富的地方。说真，塞浦路斯本身就是亚洲、欧洲同非洲的商业交汇点，商业繁荣，是必然的。而这沉没了的商船，因为埋藏上寒冷的深海，打捞上来时，船内的文物都保持得好好，而且据说打捞上来时，船只运送的酒瓶依然是密封完好的，内里装了过千年的红酒，听导游说，红酒开瓶后，味道依然是香，仍然可以饮用。

We thought the shipwreck museum was separate to the Castle, so a pleasant surprise to find a two-for-one experience - the castle itself and the shipwreck!

One ticket covers the entrance to the Castle and the shipwreck museum which is not that big but it is of huge interest.The remains and exhibits from the ship date back to the 4th century BC and include the cargo and items relating to the daily lives of its sailors.

Interesting to see, there is one wreckage. ıt is interesting to see ancient people could make money out of such a small boat with 4 crew.

There is nothing much to see, bottom side of the boat and couple of amphoras. If it would be located somewhere outside the castle and i would have to travel to see it, i would be very disappointed.

The shipwreck museum lies inside the Kyrenia castle, on the right side of Kyrenia-harbour. In museum, which is nicely arranged and maintained, is possible to see the remains of an ancient greek merchant ship from 300 BC, named Kyrenia Ship, and artefacts found onboard of it. This is one of the oldest vessels ever recovered, was found in 1965 nearby the Kyrenia harbour. It was built of Aleppo-pine wood and was 14 m long, it is thought to be on its way from Samos via Kos and Rhodos to Cyprus when it sank.Museum is not very large but well-exhibited and maintained. Also as parallel is interesting to visit the Thalassa museum in Ayia Napa, where a full-size model of this ship, named Kyrenia II, can be seen. There is a quiet café in the open court of the castle, with outdoor seating in the shadow of large trees, serving warm meals and beverages. We preferred this place for our food-break, instead of the high-life and a lots of people in the restaurants of Kyrenia harbour. In the castle also WC is available.

Visited Kyrenia castle in October and was surprised to see it was the home of the Shipwreck museum. One ticket covers both. It was pretty interesting to see the boat sections filled with amphora's as well as the picture based re-enactment of the boats last voyage. It was all quite fascinating and gave me a window into the style of craft and trade that was used in that long ago roman period,
