Just like St Pierre church and the Archeological museum, the label of closed for restoration has been given to this site.I pressed the buzzer and the man and his 2 little boys came to the gate and told me it's closed from entry. So I asked if I could just take exterior photos. He thought about it and let me in. There's not much to look at except for a sun faded poster explaining the history of the church. The carving on the door is nice. Though I much rather wish I could see inside.I went on a Sunday thinking there might be mass or something. My thinking didn't pan out.

The church is normally not open for people to just drop in. However, if someone in charge is on the premises they will show you the interior. We were guided by Janel Gumusculuk. He also told us the history of the church. Make sure you donate a little money to the church to help them take care of the Syrian refugees. The church is well worth a visit.

Very friendly reception by Mr. Janel, member of the parochial church council. He was showing us the interior of the church and answered to a lot of questions concerning the problems of the church-members and the religious very tolerant situation in Antakya. Extremly nice stay !

Historically very interesting to visit an attraction that has stood the test of time and is soooo old.

Though this church is one of the oldest churches of the world, as it has been demolished by earthquakes in the past, the new building dates back only to 19th century. It's a classical othodox church. Staff working at the church are very helpful and friendly, they provide information not only about the church itself but also about Antakya in general. It's one of the places to visit once in Antakya.

Established around 41 AC, Antakya Orthodox Church dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul is the second oldest church in the world following the church in Jerusalem. The current building has been constructed by Russians following the destruction of the previous one ( built in 1833) in an earth quake in 1872. The building reflects Russian Architecture characteristics, receives plenty of day lite , has three entrances several important antic liturgical artifacts, icons , an antique font, a nice courtyard. Centrally located church is open for worship.
