Free access with the Visit Pécs card. The mosque is not very spectacular but it survived from the Ottoman occupation of Pécs and preserves its minaret.

You pay to enter and it was worth to see how prayers were conducted in a mosque - 5 pillars of Islamic teaching and the prayer place. No photo taking inside - for whatever reason beyond my understanding.

As already stated, do not be misled by the photos someone has attached - those are of the other mosque in Pecs, the Pasha Gazi Kassim Mosque, which has been converted to a Christian church.The Jakawali Hassan Mosque is on a street that if you keep following it, will take you to the cathedral and some of the other well-known attractions in Pecs. It is a modest-sized building, but very well-curated. When we were there back in May, our experience went something like this:first, you enter the lobby, which is all white and very clean (with a little table and chair to sit and have some tea if you so desired). After paying, you pass into a small room with an exhibit of artifacts connected with the mosque, and lots of mirrors like in an old fun house making you think the room is actually much larger than it is. From there, you enter a hallway, pitch-black, with no explanation of where you are going. At the end of the hallway, you go through a door, and then you are in the mosque sanctuary, the large room with a rather high ceiling and so forth.My wife thought the whole progression rather curious, but I thought it could very well be deliberate. When you first enter the building, with the noise of the street in your ears, you are not ready to experience the beauty and stillness of the mosque. The disorienting passages of the mirrors and the blackness change your perspective, and when you finally enter the mosque, you are better able to appreciate where you are and what you see.

While we didn't get inside, it's part of visiting Pécs and getting a feel of the city. That is all I have to say sadly

don't be mistaken by the pictures above, they show the wrong mosque!! This is another mosque about 10 minutes walk from the big one on the main square, hidden in a smaller street among other buildings. It's nicely renovated and has a lot of information on the history of the building and the dancing Dervishes!

Don't be misled by the external of the Mosque, it is a fully functional Christian Church inside! One of a kind unique combination in Europe for sure! It is in great condition, very much worth visiting it.

Deze ligt iets buiten het centrum maar is goed bereikbaar. Is klein van omvang. De minaret van 23 meter hoog is hier wel nog aanwezig. Interieur is eenvoudig.
