Miskolc is blessed with a few monuments but this church is an exception.After an arson completely destroyed it it was rebuilt with a lot of help and love.We had a unique opportunity to speak with one of the church heads who very kindly told us a few secrets which otherwise nobody would know about them.So let's see what makes this church so interesting specially after the reconstruction: the cock on the top of the church is more than one meter high.In the prayer room they keep three different models of wooden chairs so that the "decision makers" could choose one that will serve the whole church. In the end they made about 300 hundred chairs of a completely different model.The roof is severed by long pairs of wooden beams.They were brought from abroad and originally had to be about 70 meters long.But the transporter could not fit them on the truck so they cut in in half.The black strong metal parts you can see on each of these beams is in order to hide the place where they were joined together. And finally a part of the altar ,also made of wood ,was donated by the Serbs during their civil war when one of their churches was bombarded and destroyed.So only the altar was left and so it was donated to this church.Go to visit the church on a Sunday and try to find out more interest things from the locals.By the way the mass can be overheard from outside through loud speakers. Donations are welcome.This is also an opportunity to thank to our guide for his patience in explaining the history of this beautiful church. Not just a church any more !

This great building is not the original indeed but equally beautiful. After a sect or cult member's arson attack Hungarian building masters, carpenters from Transsylvania helped in remodelling. Well worth a visit ! And there is surprisingly much to see in Miskolc...

The Wooden Church is a nice church. It's antique looking. There's not much to see in Miskolc but this is worth a quick visit.

This church is not wood!! First stone theater in the country. In the middle of downtown, the pedestrian streets located at the intersection of the building. The area is difficult to find an empty parking space on weekdays. But there are also underground parking spaces, there always. Here, the Opera Festival is held every year in June. The neighborhood restaurants, bars, entertainment places, banks are located.

Sadly,this is not the original,as it was,inexplicably,burnt down in an arson attack in the nineties.But it is a quite striking building and the carving inside is superb.Well worth a look if you`re ever in Miskolc.

The beautiful icons on the altar can be found in the GREEK ORTHODOX church, not in the Calvinist "old wooden" church called Deszkatemplom. By the way this nice wooden building /rebuilt after the arsonist attack by a HIT cult member some years ago/ is a landmark of Miskolc, one of the most famous structures of the city. Master carpenters from Hungarian -inhabited Transylvania worked a lot on remodeling.

Die evangelische Kirche von AvasDie aus dem 15. Jahrhundert stammende Kirche befindet sich über der Innenstadt von Miskolc auf dem Avas Berg. Der Friedhof von Avas, der als der älteste Friedhof der Stadt gilt, befindet sich um die Kirche herum.Der Glockenturm von AvasDer Glockenturm mit dem Holzbau wurde im Jahr 1577 gebaut und vermittelt eine einzigartige Stimmung. Sie hat einen quadratförmigen Grundriss und ist mit Stützpfeilern versehen. Die Turmuhr gibt ein Glockenspiel in jeder Viertelstunde. Der Turm und die Kirche gelten seit lanmgem als die Symbole der Stadt.Evangelische Kirche der Innenstadt (Kossuth Str. 17, Miskolc)Das Gebäude mit spätbarocken und klassizistischen Elementen wurde zwischen 1786 und 1808 gebaut. Der hohe, reichlich geschmückte Turm wurde im Jahre 1865 gebaut. Die würdenvolle, einschiffige Kirche ist die größte evangelische Kirche der Region.Holzkirche – (Auf dem Petofi Platz, Miskolc)Die im Jahre 1938 gebaute Kiche spiegelt mit ihrem die Stimmung der Kirchen in Siebenbürgen wider. Die Stimmung wird durch das im Eingang des Friedhofs stehende Szeklertor ergänzt. Die Holzkirch wurde im Dezember 1997 niedergebrannt. Der Wiederaufbau mit der Bewahrung der ursprünglichen Form wurde im April 1999 beendet.Evangelische Kirche (Hunyadi Str. 8, Miskolc)Die Kirche brannte durch einen Blitzschlag im Jahr 1817 völlig nieder. Die Kirche wurde mit der Anwendung der gebliebenen Stücken zwischen 1817 und 1820 wiedergebaut.Minoritenkirche (Hosok tere 3, Miskolc)Die imposante Kirche wurde zwischen 1735 und 1743 an einem frekventierten Ort im historischen Stadtkern gebaut. Während der Bauarbeiten wurden die Grundmauer der früheren Pfarrkirche benutzt. Ihre jetzige Form und Einrichtung gewann die Kirche in den 60er Jahren des 18. Jahrhunderts. Die Kirche und das dazugehörende Ordenshaus wurden von Giovanni Battista Carlone entworfen. In der unter dem Chor liegenden Gruft liegt der Gründer des Ordenshauses, P. Kelemen Didák.Ordenshaus der MinoritenDas einstige Kloster schließt sich der westlichen Seite der Kirche an. Sein Grundstein wurde im Jahr 1743 am Ort des früheren Wohngebäudes der Mönche abgelegt. Eine Besonderheit des Grundrisses ist, dass das Nordflügel sich dem Chor anschließt. Die einstigen Zellen der Möche und das im Erdgeschoss des Westflügels liegende geräumige Refektorium öffnen sich vom Flur.Mindszenti Römisch Katholische Kirche (Mindszent Platz 8, Miskolc)Die Kirche wurde im Jahr 1728 im barocken Stil gebaut.
