This little place shows two videos about Icelandic volcanoes, one of which is about the 2010 eruption that disrupted European travel for months. Ever wonder what it would be like to live in a place where volcanoes erupt frequently, with a major eruption every five years or so? Volcano House will answer all your questions.

This quaint museum that contains many rock specimens with brief descriptions for a hands on experience . They offer an informative film about the Eyafjyatlajokull and Vestmann eruptions in an intimate theatre setting. Good basic info for the four people who were travelling with us (a pair of geologists).

My wife and I visited the Volcano House after eating at the adjoined (and excellent) Icelandic Fish and Chips and watched the short film about the Eyafjyatlajokull and Vestmann eruptions in the small cinema.The film itself is about an hour long and was very interesting with some great cinematography. The museum itself is essentially a single room with a lot of 'hands on' volcanic rock exhibits. It is good fun to explore but is more of an accompaniment to the cinema rather than something to dedicate time too on its own. Worth popping into if you are in the area.

Me and my mum were wandering around a -7 Reykjavik after our Northern Lights tour was cancelled and asked the tourist board for a recommendation, which was volcano house.It sounded really interesting, documentary on recent eruptions direct from the Icelandic people's point of view. The documentaries were quite interesting, particularly the 1970's eruption, but there could have been more information about the 2010 eruption with it being so recent.We paid £10 each for this privilege, and we could have watched similar and in fact betters ones on YouTube and TV for FREE! In fact, I have seen better ones for free. The ticket price should be lowered.Only go if you have a spare hour and spare cash.

It was very informative and helps you realise why Iceland is like it is. Really well done. It's a cafe with a small cinema in the back. It explains how the platelets are moving and shows you some of the properties from the 70's.

We are glad to know you liked your visit to Volcano House. We are small in space but large in information and entertainment. The movie theater has 60 seats and is nice and warm.
