The snow and ice added something to this fabulous garden of unusual and sometimes disturbing sculptures. If you are in Reykjavik, give yourself time to make a stop - well worth it!

I visited the sculpture garden at night, which was well worth it. It was a bit eerie at night with no one around, but the lighting in the garden really brought out the beauty of the sculptures. A nice place to spend some time after visiting Hallgrímskirkja

We visited the Sculpture Garden on a Friday in February which was a pleasant thing to do. It is to the right of Reykjavik church so it seemed like a good idea to visit whilst we were in the area. The actual museum has very limited opening hours in the winter, just weekends, which is strange considering the number of tourists around the church.

Everyone visiting Reykajvik should visit the strangly built house to look at the masterpieces made by Einar Jonsson.

Einar was just a great artist, and if you are interested in art you have to go. The museum is located not far from down town Reykjavik. To visit is a must.

This is a rating of the garden not of the museum itself. We were not able to see the museum because they have extremely limited hours in the winter. At night the garden has a dreamy quality. Calm, empty, quiet & filled with Einar Jonsson's great works. During the summer this would be a great place to sit and have a picnic.Lovely.One tip - if it's icy, beware!

We stumbled across this museum when we first visited Reykjavik last February but the museum itself was closed, we enjoyed a magical hour in the garden looking at the incredible sculptures on display. We have just returned to Iceland and on our return to Reykjavik a visit to the museum itself was at the top of our to do list! We were not disappointed, the museum itself is phenomenal. We look at Michaelangelo, Da Vinci and Dali etc and Jonsson should be amongst them. There is deep, thought provoking ideas and concepts on display here which deserve to be more widely acknowledged and acclaimed. The garden is free to enjoy and the museum Kr1000 and worth every penny.

I found this garden when visiting the adjacent cathedral. I'm so glad I did. The garden is simple but the sculptures are beautiful. Best of all its free!

I'd heard the museum itself was heavy going for people not deadly serious about art, so we only went in the garden. That was fantastic!! All his sculptures are there and you wander around freely. Lovely place to spend 1/2 an hour :)

What an outstanding contemporary art museum. We spent a couple of hours here w/the very different art work. I felt like I had joined the loop in seeing what's available in the art world. Very different than my home town (Los Angeles) art museums (although they are plenty good),
