      贝加尔湖澄净的湖水为萨满岩赋予灵性。站在慢坡上静静地看着萨满岩,蓝天白云静静的湖水,感慨世界上竟有如此美丽且人烟稀少的地方。

Our guide perfectly timed our trip to the Shaman rocks. Arrived right before sunset and walked down to the lookout area above the rocks (not down to the rocks themselves). It was an absolutely magical experience. One brave soul had actually climbed the rocks themselves (despite the sign warning against). There are different shaman totems scattered around, which add to the magic of the place. What I had at first thought was some trash ended up being brightly colored cloth inserted into the rocks. We went back earlier the next day and walked along the shore and down to the frozen water. A great place to explore and get a sense of Olkhon.

Yeah man. Shamanka Rock man. I mean, yeah? Or should it be without question, as in yeah. Let's plump for the latter because, if you can wade through the tourist detritus, avoid anyone who looks like a shaman (these are usually from downtown Cardiff and haven't bathed in weeks, maybe years) as well anyone who insists on using the prefix 'man' in any sentence (why so sexist man?) you can actually feel something in the wind and I am not referring to the odours emanating from Cardiff's finest. It is not just the rock, best viewed at sunset (natch), it is the overwhelming experience of the dominance of Nature. Before I am accused of sharing some bizarre tobacco substance provided by a local, there are few experiences on earth to match that of Lake Baikal, as dramatic and as breath taking a landscape as it has been my privilege to view. There can be few things to match the utter demolition of a nutcrushing hangover by jumping into +7 degrees of glacial water, at times over 1 1/2 kilometres deep. Imagine bathing in pure Evian and then emerging to see Maria Sharapova on the bank going 'errrrrrrrrrrrrr' at the top of her irritating voice - surreal n'est pas? That's Baikal for you. It fries your senses. Just when you thought you'd seen everything the world has to offer, this little baby gets up and smacks you one. Go. Experience. Enjoy and don't say 'man'.

Was a beautiful place to go and sit to watch the sunset over the lake. During the day there is a beach area nearby and you can go swim in the lake too.

My guidebook dismissed this somewhat, but worth seeing as it is just a stroll from Khuzir, the village capital. There were magnificent photos, which I took to be on the best days & perhaps photoshopped.Reality was therefore a pleasant surprise. Sea was calm, scenery stunning & it was a real pleasure to ramble around the clifftops. There are prayer flags in various areas around the top. Birds are plentiful & there was snow on distant mountaintops in early June. It is the kind of place you could sit and ponder the meaning of life - you might even come up with some answers!

Yes, it is just a rock. But this rock give the uniqueness of that corner of Lake Baikal. It is not that far from the Khuzhir village. While walking towards the rock do observe the Buryat ceremonial site along the way. Take your time!

A wonderful point, and it was one of the special experiences of my journey there. It gives a special view over the lake of baikal and a special feeling to sit there and just watch the surroundings. This landscape and this lake are so beautiful, and this place is on top of it.It want to come back here, soon.

Magical and spiritual - a very special place to visit. The whole area is incredible and bautiful. It was almost like steping onto a movie set.

Shamanka Rock is world known symbol of Olkhon. But of course to see the Shamanka Rock is not the same like to see whole Island.

This is a lovely peaceful place to walk or sit. I only spent two nights on the island and managed to visit the north cape in this time. In my opinion a day trip to the north cape will prove more rewarding than a day in the village of Khuzhir and time at Shamanka Rocks. Still, most accommodation is situated very close to this spot so it's easy to visit.
