This is a nice statue, but really just another statue. Near the Potemkin Steps, Opera House and Main Downtown area. Easy to see but another statue.

I have seen the monument late evening, when I had climbed the Potiomkin Stairs from sea level and have entered to down-town of Odessa.In the monument Catherine the Great holds a scroll with the words written on it that read: "Let the city and port be".I didn't know are the four gentlemen standing as statuesque figures below the figure of Catherine II the Great.It's very picturesquely part of Odessa and I advice to see it evening time.

Just a few blocks from the Potemkin Steps this fairly imposing monument to the city's founder was first erected in 1900, then dismantled in 1920. In 2007 the restored monument - most of the parts are original, I was told the head is not - was put back in Yekaterininskaya Square in the center of the city where it first rested. In the monument Catherine the Great holds a scroll with the words written on it that read: "Let the city and port be". Below are the other prominent figures who took an active part in the birth of a new town: admiral de Ribas, Prince Potyomkin, Count Zubov, engineer de Wollant. When the restored monument was unveiled in 2007 there were clashes with police and nationalist groups at the square. It is worth seeing as a piece of the city's history and also because this monument sparked such intense feelings in 2007.

Благодарные одесситы поставили памятник Екатерине Второй и ее придворным, тем кто участвовал в основании этого великого города. Невозможно пройти мимо.

Это один из лучших памятников, что мне приходилось видеть. Это памятник ещё царской россии. Аналогичный памятник стоял на этом же месте до 20-х годов ХХст., пока его не снесли коммунисты.

Этот памятник великолепен, как мне кажется, питерский аналог на Невском отдыхает. В Советское время здесь стоял "утюг" с Потемкинцами, а этот великолепие хранилось в запасниках Оперного. Благо, не уничтожили...

Памятник производит впечатление.Сразу вспоминаешь историю Екатерины Великой.Мне он очень нравится,а также его местоположение.

Один из крупнейших памятников Одессы. Удачно рассположен и направлен в сторону лесницв и моря с портом. Правда подойти к памятнику не всегда можно безопастно, т.к. все запарковано машинами и плюс движение. Нужно быть осторожным.

Этот памятник (восстановленный в 2007 на средства одесситов), к сожалению попал в список целей "борцов с пямятниками" из-за напоминания о (великом) прошлом города и страны, в которой находится. Одесситы собрали подписи против сноса памятников Екатерине и Пушкину после внесения в госдуму вопроса об их сносе. Но для ярых националистов он как красная тряпка.

Изумительное место, после подъема по Потемкинской лестнице сам собой напрашивается проход аккурат к памятнику. Памятник внушителен и величественен, вокруг разбит красивый цветник. Можно постоять, полюбоваться - на редкость гармоничное сочетание места и памятника
