It is a church. It is new. It was built to replace the cathedral destroyed by the Soviets in the thirties. You go there to pray and light a candle. It does not have ancient icons or lovely old architecture but it has a powerful sense of God.

On a sunny day, the Cathredral sits in the middle of a lovely green space in the heart of Odessa. The most impressive thing about the structure is the clean look of the building, but with the iconic look of a classical Orthodox place of worship. Inside or outside, it gvies the vibe of a place for quiet contemplation. However, the lively vibe in the gardens outside add to the overall impression.

I love the exterior of this church, it is perhaps my favorite in all of Ukraine. The scent of beeswax permeates the halls and chapel, and it was a very reflective atmosphere. We arrived just before some sort of mass was taking place, and not wanting to intrude we exited quietly. Not avoiding a few glares from a grumpy priest, I may add. Visited in Spring 2008.

This cathedral is situated on the large green park of Cathedral Square (we saw pony rides here on our visit), it is also known as Preobrazhensky Cathedral. With its very tall bell tower, this cathedral is beautiful in its simplicity but not particularly unique as a tourist attraction. However, it is a local symbol of pride as it was rebuilt post-communism.

Не поняла причем тут некоторые отзывы про Соборную площадь. Собор по адресу на карте - это совершенно другое место. Да, внешне его постоянно реставрируют и переделывают, но внутри страшная темень и отвратительные бабки-работницы, что не спросишь, в ответ получишь грубость и хамство!

Наконец-то Соборная площадь получила назад свой Собор.Были ранним утром и даже не знаю, сохранился ли дневной колорит этого места.

Очень красивый храм, обязательно стоит посмотреть особенно после ремонта и реставрации. Чувтствуешь как прикасаешся к истории.

Приятно , тепло и спокойно чувствуешь себя в этом святом месте, наполняет светом и чистотой) еще не закончены внутренние работы по реконструкции и ощущается запах краски на февраль 2015.

Ранее, посещая Одессу, невозможно было проникнуться всей грандиозностью и красивостью данного места. Но когда строительные леса закончили опоясывать главные башенки Собора, зрелище предстало не многим лучше, но стоит отметить, что ремонт пошел на пользу!
