I used to go to this museum several times during my earlier school years, and the different sections with both, ships, sea animals, etc., have always been fascinating and educational to me. :)

Although we have lived here for several years we went on our first visit here only recently. It is interesting to see the animals and the playground is great for kids. Also a lot of history to learn - which we didn't have so much time to look into with impatient small kids. But will do another time instead. To me the museum looks a bit dated. Could be nice with a modernization that could make it a bit more current. Building and exteriors could do with a bit of maintenance. We went in February which was ok. But the outdoor area is definitely better when it is warmer.

The museum has several sections, there is a section with living fish, some of which you can touch, then there is the maritime section which is both indoor and outdoor mostly with facts and artifacts, very informative. Finally, there is the seal aquarium outdoor, where the seals are fed a few times per day. Be sure to check their web-site so you know the timings, it's a hit with the kids. The museum also arrange tours on their fishing-boat and walks on the Wadden Sea.Everything is well-organised and well-maintained. If you visit Esbjerg, then this is one of the must-see attractions, definitely worth a visit. Note: Kids <18 are free entrance now.

When you visit, be sure to walk down to the beach to see the Man meets Sea statues - they are really something & great photo opportunity. Museum has cafe which was good and fab exhibits.

Located in Sædding just north of Esbjerg. Sealarium has just been renovated, so there's been a much bigger pool and the water follows the tide, and there is a good chance to get close to the seals. Some good exhibits inside the museum and include a lifeboat behind the museum. There is a cafeteria.

If you are on vacation with the family (children) it is a great place to go visit. A lot to see and learn for the children.

The museum gives a good insight of the history of the fishing harbour - Esbjerg was the biggest fishing harbour in the Northern Europe. The museum also has some aquariums with fish from the North Sea + you can watch the seals beeing feeded

There was more here than we expected. BUT!!!! The seals were lovely but the talk at feeding time was only given in Danish & German and if you sat or stood on the viewing steps you couldn't see what was going on because everyone standing by the pool blocked the view. Would be a good idea to ask visitors to use the steps/seating provided. Interesting exhibits including rope making and net making and a good collection of vessels. The aquarium is good but the touch pool was disappointing mainly inhabited by bottom feeding fish (plaice, flounder, sole etc) only one ray and a couple of dog fish that could be touched if they ventured close enough. Good cafe the food looked lovely and was sensibly priced.Children do not have to pay an entrance fee
