South of Mendoza, Valle de Uco is well worth the drive to discover immense wineries, which are really grape plantations as far as the eye can see. And the culinary experience rivals any other in the world.

We visited Bodegas Salentin at 11am. It was an amazing place with a Grand Piano in the Cellar that luckily someone else in our party was permitted to play. The whole place was fantastic and the wine tasting was excellent. We tasted 4 wines here and they were all delicious. We then went onto Andeluna Cellars and had a 'Private Tour' which gave us another view of a smaller Vineyard against the vastness of the more modern Salentein. We had a Wine Tasting, 7 in all, outside so we could gasp at the backdrop of the Andes. The wines there were superb also. We then went on to have a Wine Tasting lunch just across the road at a tiny vineyard 'La Azul' ! The food, wine, scenery and service were all fabulous. Lots of wild Guinea Pigs running around, a Fuchsia Tree buzzing with Hummingbirds right by our table! Excellent value for money and the quality of the food outstanding. Would love to re-visit the area and to more Vineyards if this small snippet is anything to go by.

We had not heard about the Valle de Uco before but when organising our trip in the Mendoza wine region, we decided to try for something a little further than the traditional Maipu area. We don't regret it. The whole region is wonderful: great wines, welcoming people, a very good selection of accommodation. We particularly noticed the difference when, on our drive back to Mendoza, we decided to stop to buy some more wine in some of the Maipu valley bodegas (Septima, Ruca Malen, etc.) and were not even allowed to come in as the places were supposedly "full". Clearly, these bodegas make profit from big agency groups to whom they sell all-inclusive visits and are not interested in individuals who come to simply buy wine. This was such a drop from the wonderful welcome we received everywhere in the Uco Valley that it made us feel even better at having chosen to stray a little farther off the main track.

Went to the bar outside (NOT the restaurant !) in the evening, very nice atmosphere, absolutely phantastic view after sun set of Dubai Marina/ Jebel Ali coastline and the Palm / Atlantis. Food is Tapa style, good selection, inside (restaurant ? aircon !) and outside seating available. Fast and professional service, open spacing outside makes it a comfortable and pleasant experience. Take a walk around the inner side of the One& Only after darkness settles in – beautiful set up. Three people 700 Dhs incl alcoholic drinks, Will go again.
