The place is wonderful especially on a hot sunny day - it's nice and cool inside the museum, the building is beautiful and the view on the sea is very photogenic. We spent a long time in the dark rooms of the "whale shadows and sounds" exposition, it was a nice surprise to listen to whale's songs and actually feel them (spoiler: in the room with square couches - lay down, don't just sit). The information is mostly translated into English and was interesting and to the point. The museum is small but makes for a very pleasant and refreshing afternoon or morning, even out of the whale viewing season. In the season they say whales can be spotted from the museum's viewpoint, find out beforehand!

My son and I were amazed by Punta Tombo and the whale watching at Peninsula Valdes and wanted to learn about whales and penguins. Beautiful displays with some information in English but not as much as we had hoped. Still, we enjoyed it overall, especially the whale sounds.

Hadn't planned to visit - we just happened to walk along that beach as far as here & arrive at 14:55. It's open 15 till 20:00 every day except Tuesday's. Inside there's lots of info about the area & the marine wildlife, why they chose to spend time in this part of Patagonia & how we need to make sure that we help them survive all the threats to their existence (no surprises that man is the main threat, with over fishing & pollution & climate change). The staff were very helpful & friendly & we were lucky enough to visit on a day when there were few people. And three an absolutely wonderful octagonal tower upstairs, where you can sit on the sofas & watch the sea in all its glory. Idyllic viewpoint. Highly recommended centre.

This is a nice museum, worth visiting if you are around, very educational and with some nice touches. It is small, so it will not take you more than 1 hours, 90 minutes tops.

Museum is nice not that big. But why do people not coming from Argentnie pay a higher entrence fee. You need around 45 minuten to see it al

The sensory exhibit on whales will stay with me forever. Make sure to climb to the top of the building for a great view.

I really enjoyed this place. Interesting interactive exhibits where you get to feel what it's like to be under the water with the right whales. Also you walk through these ropes to get sensory feelings of the right whales. Different. Nice exhibits and I liked it that everything was explained in Spanish and English.

Only open in the afternoons - said 3pm - but they eventually sauntered over to open the gates at 3.15pm. Once in the building we were directed to pass thru the curtains on the right and then through an exhibition dedicated to the whales. Sounded good but all that involved was watching screens with staggered film of a whale passing by, "vibrating" seats reacting to the sound of whales calling to each other and passing thru the rooms via a tight web of hanging down fabrics - errrr - was this supposed to give us the sensation of being in seaweed?? Could not understand why the written exhibitions of the various types of seals did not include a picture of what they were describing and the static exhibitions contained so much writing we gave up. The tide pool was tiny. There was a lot of poetry. Had high hopes for the tower. Once up there it was unbearably hot and the couches for lazing and sitting on were dirty as were the windows. Our whale experience was exceptional but not from Ecocentro. Save yourself the high entrance fee (more for visitors than locals) and go either to the beach in front of Puerto Madryn or for a once in a lifetime moment, the end of the pier to the left of town. Every day from the pier we got an amazing show from the passing whales and all this for free.

A wonderful exhibition of the history of the area and how the Atlantic ocean plays such an important role in the ecology of the area. Try and be there at sunset as the views and clours are amazing. Allow plenty of time to view all the exhibits.

The Ecocentro is one of the nicer museums I visited in South America. They've got some interesting information about local sea life, and some cool interactive pools. It seems like it's great for children. Lots of fun stuff to play with. Not to mention the views are great. But unless you're really interested in marine biology, or you're traveling with kids, it's not the most exciting excursion.
