A spectacular place, incredible journey. Wonderful rock formations on the way 70Km between Cafayate and Angatasco. It can be done with a rental car. If you have good physical fitness may be a bike ride. Another way to be in this place is for tours departing from Salta and Cafayate.

Fascinating landscape, unusual even for the Andes. Ruta 40, which is dirt track here, winds tortuously through a landscape of curious jagged rock-forms.

Apparently, they shot several scenes of the Star Wars planet Tatooine here. Whether that's true or not, this quebrada is a much-see in this region. It is a surreal landscape which can be best explored by rental car. We did a round-trip from Salta via Cafayate and Cachi back to Salta, which allows you to see the Quebrada de las Conchas (amazing, but more touristy), this quebrada (much quieter), and the Cuesta del Obispo (completely different once again), and you can stay in any of these cute places (or even smaller ones like Molinos). Make sure you do this drive, it takes about 4 days (with an outing to the ruines of Quilmes) and is definitely worth it!Btw, most of the road between Cafayate and Cachi is unpaved, so driving might be slightly harder and you will make slow progress (40-60km/h on average in a non-4WD). This is no reason not to go here, though:)

If you go to the Northwest area of Argentina, do not miss the Calchaquies Valley. I recommend renting a car to drive from the city of Cafayate northwards to the city of Salta through the gorgeous, colorful villages of Animaná, San Carlos, Angastaco, Molinos, Seclantás and Cachi.From Cafayate (a city famous for its vineyards, namely producing the Torrontes variety) to Molinos you go through these amazing rock formations shaped as arrows. It is a gravel road, no gas stations, almost nothing but Mother Nature.Better if you do it before sunset...lovely colors!Do not spend the night in Angastaco, just move on for some extra 40 km to Molinos, to the only hotel in that Village, with charming colonial rooms and a lovely swimming pool overlooking the valley and mountains for 120 dollars double bed room and breakfast.Youtube has beautiful films of Quebrada de las Flechas.

Fuimos de Cafayate a Cachi con traslado privado y la verdad es que no me arrepiento. Yo tenía miedo por comentarios que había recibido y por un par de cosas que leí por aca pero la verdad es super recomendable. Es un camino para hacer tranquilo y parar varias veces si sos el que maneja porque en su mayor parte es de ripio. Es para ir tranquilo y disfrutar porque las vistas son impagables. Ni hablar si tenés paciencia de entrar en los pueblitos que van apareciendo por el camino.Conclusión: el camino entre Cafayate y Cachi por la ruta 40 es hermoso, si tienen la oportunidad haganlo que no se van a arrepentir.

Es un gran paisaje que nos ofrece Salta. Como bien dicen todos los comentarios el nombre mismo de la quebrada, los picos de las montañas parecen flechas. Si uno está acostumbrado a lo llano y las autopistas puede parecer terrible el camino, pero yendo tranquilo creo que se puede hacer sin sobresaltos. Yo no maneje por esta ruta, así que quizás la visión de los conductores es distinta. No duden de ir entrando a los pueblitos para descansar un poco las muñecas si manejan y sacar algunas fotos.

Las increíbles formas que van apareciendo en forma de flechas hace que toda la fantasía se haga realidad, es un lugar hermoso. Fuimos dos veces y es realmente un lugar muy bonito. El camino es de ripio, no estaba muy bueno y no hay servicios en la zona. A pesar de todo y la ruta 40 incluída, es un lugar imperdible con un paisaje escepcional. Parece que cada vez que uno avanza se va a chocar con una formación en punta de flecha que lo espera. No desepciona.

El viaje es difícil. La ruta 40 no está en muy buenas condiciones. Pero sin dudas vale la pena transitarla para poder ver la quebrada de Las Flechas que es precioso!!!! Hay momentos que uno siente que se está metiendo entre las "flechas" naturales. Es muy hermoso!

El camino de Cafayate a Cachi por la ruta 40 se hace en aproximadamente 4 horas pero vale la pena. La quebrada de las flechas es uno de esos lugares sorprendentes.
