A few restaurants, many "tourist", plus a few local restaurants a block away. We lucked out and found an excellent family one, specializing in seafood, with good food, huge portions and a nice, local feel.

In those red and yellow wooden little ships, brave Marplatense fishermen, most of them of Italian descent, defy every day the unpredictable sea. The huge statue of the Savior at the end of the Southern Pier (Escollera Sur) testifies for their faith. An important colony of sea lions, located inside the Port, provides individuals which can be seen near the boats and in the docks, not afraid of people. Good seafood in the restaurants nearby, and lots of souvenir shops.

Again a place for fish restaurants of general mediocrity. A bit overpriced and service is average. A lot of restaurants do not take credit cards as a lot of the customers who go there do not have them.

It's a place where all travelers should go and visit. Some great restaurants and some not.

This was a good suprise in my trip to Mar del Plata! The place is very beautiful, full of ships from all over the world, with also a cementery of ships... In sunset, people go there to fish... The waves shocks on the rocks making a beautiful spectacle. And the best is the colony of sea-lions, mainly males, that are fightin to eache other and making that strong sounds every moment. The small beach is a good option to see the sunset (but not to swim). And you will still have a great panoramic view of the city of Mar del Plata. PS.: go in the sunset!
