Nice for an afternoon walk, as the grounds are well maintained with lots of green and benches. Quite crowded on the weekends!

Nice area to walk through, this place is the true Pere Lachaise of Sucre where Bolivians go to take care of the tombs of their loved ones but also to simply enjoy the peacefull yet full of live atmosphere.Go on Sunday if possible.

Went for a walk around the cemetery, very different to ours back in the uk. Worth a visit to see the local culture.

Really nice cemetery, it shows a lot about Bolivian culture. Most graves in small buildings, all of them with some nice homage from the relatives in some small windows displays in front of it. Unique.

People think I'm weird when I say I like this cemetery but you have to visit it to believe it. Beautiful flowers everywhere, lots of benches, the tombs are well taken care of and the caretakers were respectful and unobtrusive. I spent some time just wandering along the rows and rows, and thoroughly enjoyed my morning.

A really great option to visit when in Sucre. I did it by foot, and it was really doable. You'll arrive via the street with all the flower ladies. Such a nice and colourful view. The cemetary it self was even on a monday morning filled with people to come and show respect to their loved ones. It is a beautiful place, nicely planted like a park, with several bigger graves and tombes, and memory walls. Pretty and tranquil!

Well maintained gardens, peaceful, and interesting cemetery to visit. I was struck by the number of graves which had fresh flowers - clearly indicating how many relatives visit the deceased. The displays in some of the windows contain photos and items which represent the deceased's interests which gives an insight into their personality. I was enjoying a stroll through the grounds when a guard started blowing a whistle and ordering everyone to leave so they could lock up for lunch. Cemetery closes between 12 and 2 pm so bear this in mind. I hopped on a collective bus outside and went to the central market for lunch. I will return to have another look before I leave Sucre - it's a lovely green space, something which seems to be lacking in the rest of the city.

At first we bemoaned our luck. Everything closed for Todos Santos, All Saints Day, on the day-and-a-half we found ourselves in Sucre . Yet it turned out to be one of our most remarkable experiences in forty years of traveling to almost 100 countries. We found ourselves as the lone tourists in the throngs of locals visiting the cemetery to visit their deceased relatives on the Day of the Dead. We "shot from the hip" because we could not resist capturing the countless faces--young and old--that reflect an ancient culture (and yet did not want to violate the warm reception we received). The colours, the sounds, the smells... we will never forget the carnival atmosphere as people celebrated the lives of those they had lost.

If you haven't been to a cemetary in Bolivia yet, make sure to stop by. It's actually one of the nicest 'green' areas of Sucre, quite tranquil. The funeral rituals are quite different. Instead of being burried in the ground, coffins are inserted in what looks like lockers. Bodies are allowed to remain for about 5 years, after which they are cremated to free up space for new deceased one.
