The place has really very little to see. It was expensive and you need to take a bus from Sucre. They didn't allow photos inside and I get why, so that you don't document how poor this sight is.

This is billed as one the city attractions, an impressive castle as seen from the highway and located inside a military academy. However, nothing upclose matches what you see from the road. It is mostly abandoned, dark, empty and in disrepair, like looking through an old home, complete with the smell and the paint peeling off the walls. Though the architecture is impressive for an out-of-the-way place, nothing else is impressive when you come close.

We read about this place in some travel guides. They made it sound like it was way out in the barrios and just another old building. In fact it is an easy 15 minute #4 bus ride from the city centre square to the end of the line and is a unique piece of late 19th century architecture. It is located across the river from a military barracks and about a km past Sucre's small train station. The building was constructed after its wealthy owners returned from a European trip. It has a miniature Big Ben clock tower and two substantial viewing towers which overlook what use to be Italian designed and maintained gardens and ponds and are now, sadly, just overgrown fields. The building retains it's original grandeur because of it features, despite being empty of all furnishing except a couple of beds and a grand dining room table. Most of is open for viewing for a 20B admission fee (+10B if you want to take pics). The view of the valley from the mineret like tower is good if you manage to climb up its many, many steps.

The place is quite something. Looking at the point where Bolivia was when the castle was built, it must have been quite an impressive private residence at the point of time. What's sad was the internal furniture has been looted empty. What a pity.Walking into the main hall, you could not helped but imagine the parties/dinners it once hosts there. Too bad the owners do not have any children. Thus, the place has gone to the military after many years.Oh be prepared that there is no taxi to take you back to town. We ended up taking the public bus back into town square.

The castle is not a real castle, but an original Palace, so full of bad taste you could only laugh (or throw up). The visit was pretty enjoyable. Too bad they decided to spoil the surroundings with military barracks and an awfully ugly "convention center". They are slowly restoring the castle to its "old splendor". All furniture, decorations and chandeliers have been miserably pillaged. The entrance fee for foreigners is a little expensive compared to other monuments.Missing it wouldn't be a tragedy.

Just a wealthy man who built a house trying to replicate everything he liked but ended up cheesy. I think the story of this "Prince" Francisco Agandoña is more interesting than the building itself. Shouldn't waste time on it, even though it's just a few kilometers away from Sucre downtown.

You can see the house form outside in 2 minutes, a funny building but nothing else.It is 15 min from the center by bus number 4, if you have already seen everything in the city.. ok, but not enter!Once there a rude woman advise you must enter, it costs 20 Bs + 10Bs for right to take photos. We choose without photos so we lost "only" 20 Bs per person for visiting an empty building, really absolutely empty, no guide, no reception, no informations, no forniture, no expositions, nothing! To underline how they trik you bolivians (don't mind if they are rich or poor) pay 10 Bs, for foreginers the price is twice it is twice.

It's a curious castle combining different architectural styles and epochs. Unfortunately the interior has been looted in the 1950ies, therefore there is not much to see inside. It's not worth to pay the camera right. If would already help if the gardens were maintained, they have a great potential. At least it's a paradise for lori parrots, you will see hundreds of them. You can go by public bus to the castle.

What can I say but don't even go. Nothing to see, just an empty house, I mean castle. I don't know what the entrance goes to because they maintain it. It's a shame.

For my thats not a Castle! Its not that old, and not in a very good condicion. The history is interesting, but with nothing!!! in it, its very boring.
