Lithe walk along the Beach or on the adjacent walkway (running/jogging after 7pm for many locals...wonderful to see folk out in the participation mode) is something one just has to participate in when I. la Serena. It is part of the the lifestyle for many and besides the beauty of the beach and the smell of the Pacific Ocean, the freshness of the air is ... Well to quote the 'younger generation ' Awesome. I just love their zone and it would seem So Do. Lot Of other folks, native and foreign.

We had a beautiful stroll from the lighthouse down to the more commercial area. Ate the most delicious Italian- Chilean food at La Mia pizza. Enjoyed the most beautiful sunset. There was nothing spectacular about this beach and yet it was very relaxing and beautiful.

we stayed at a hotel just opposite this beach and used it every day. It is a lovely long beach, well served by facilities and very welcoming to families. There are many play parks for the kids and a long promenade for walking and cycling with lots of cafes and juice bars along the way. There was a visible lifeguard and police presence which was reassuring. On the minus side, there were stray dogs, beach hawkers selling their wares and people begging up near the Pharos lighthouse. This didn't spoil our experience but is worth keeping an eye on whilst there

We drove along the Avenue but we're not too thrilled with it. It was ok to observe but nothing really special. Go ahead and do it but don't expect a lot.

Here, there is the chance to walk along the beautiful pacific beach front, but beware it has become very noisy in the evening with loud music and tacky family style beach attractions. There is one class restaurant serving excellent seafood on the beach: Tololo - near 5000 Avenida del Mar.

This is a very large (several miles) boulevard packed with restaurants, small shops, sport facilities, and lots and its of people. Parking is very cheap, but hard to find a few spot in February.Walk. Sit. Have a beer and a local empanada. Keep walking for one of the many restaurants serving fresh seafood. Beautiful beach.

WE hired a taxi to drive us around the area and take the beach road back to the ship. I understand it is a very popular beach area in the summer. Not a lot of development along the beach yet. Just wait a few years.

Easy to walk along the beach, there are parks for children to play if you are with young ones. The view of the sea is pretty and peacefull. Well lit at night and good holiday vibe.

The large and long beach is only a twenty minute walk from La Serena's Plaza de Armas and stretches all the way to Coquimbo in one direction and also a long distance in the other. There is very little development on this magnificent crescent: a few high rise apartment buildings at the La Serena end, and only one restaurant offering coffee, juices and food (no alcohol). The El Faro lighthouse needs some restoration work. The beach is nearly deserted.

One of the better things to do in La Serena, visit the beach.Within walking distance from downtown. Not excessively commercial, the beach is open to the public from the street, not blocked by high rise buildings as in South Florida.Beach has sand, not all rock like some.Best to go on weekdays when there are fewer people. There is also horseback riding, also.
