We saw a bunch of geoglyphs in Azapa Valley and Lluta Valley and this one was the best. It's a short taxi ride from Arica and can be combined with visits to el Museo Arquelogico San Miguel de Azapa and the handicraft village (Poblado Artesanal).

This was very impressive as a first geoglyphs site, but after seeing dozens of others (all amazingly well preserved if they're really >500 years old) I'm not so sure this one was that amazing. It is quite close to the side of the road, however. By the way, it's on A-33, not Ruta 11.

Ganz ausgezeichnet erhaltene Geoglyphen sieht man hier in bemerkenswerter Vielfalt. Anders als etwa die Linien von Nasca sind sie erhaben angelegt. Die Erklärung am Strassenrand lautet leider: "Die Bedeutung dieser Bilder ist im Laufe der Jahrhunderte verloren gegangen".Fotografieren kann man die Bilder am Besten nachmittags, ein guter orientierungsort ist der alte Bahnhof Rosario, von da aus etwas nach Westen.

De todas maneras es un lindo lugar con unos dibujos muy bien hechos... pero de todas maneras tienen que seguir por el camino por que en la medida que se sube se van viendo más y mejores geoglifos....

Es increíble ver como los antiguos habitantes fueron capaces de retratar de manera tan hermosa sus actividades y el entorno que los rodeaba, y sobre todo que esas huellas se conserven tan bien hasta nuestros días. Muy lindo y motivante para aprender un poco de historia.
