Very interesting. Besides the very tall monument marking the center of South America, there are circle plaques around the monument indicating direction and distance of well known cities in Brazil. It's worth a visit.

In the Chapada dos Guimarães park, just outside the small township of Chapada dos Guimarães (about 65 Km from Cuiabá), and providing a scenic viewpoint - great for watching sunset over the lowlands, is located an innoculus and easy to overlook a small cement square marking the geodetic center of South America. Noteably, in the 70's a number of alternative communities developed in this area due to its esoteric location in the center of the continent. [Not to be confused with the other claimed centre in downtown Cuiabá].

Before leaving Brazil, I walked around the old town Cuiaba early in the morning with my friends. First place I reached was Geodesic Center of South America. The tower was so impressive. The guy, probably the clerk of this facility, was so kind . He took pictures of us.I realized again that we were at the completely opposite side to Japan on the Earth.

Based on the photos it's hard to tell whether this attraction refers to the obelisk in downtown Cuiabá or the viewpoint 1.5hrs away. In any case, I visited both. The obelisk downtown actually seems more legit as the 'Geodesic Centre of South America' as it has the coordinates and a plaque that actually talks about it being the centre. There is nothing much else to see in this small plaza. We actually had no idea what it was and saw tourists taking pictures so we stopped the car and my husband got out to check what it was. After realizing it was the geodesic centre I got out too and snapped a quick photo. The viewpoint with the same name is on the other side of the Chapada dos Guimaraes park and offers a decent view if you are in the area. It has no signs, however, and little information that would lead one to believe it's the geodesic centre of anything. Stop by if you are visiting the park but don't drive all the way out there to see the 'geodesic centre'.

Seeing the magnificent geodesic place is a nice experience, not because you are in the middle point of South America, but because it is a beautiful

Breathtaking views (you might even see a couple of brides taking their wedding pictures) of Cuiaba and the surroundings. Cool place for a picnic on a mountain top

There are two places that claims to be the center of South America, I don´t really know which one is correct, but in any of them, you will be able to say you have been there, which will be interesting in a five minute conversation, lol.

O local é lindo! Muita natureza e paisagens que vale a pena ficar admirando.Algumas empresas de turismo oferecem passeios, trilhas, esportes e etc.

Localizado no local antes denominado Campo do Ourique, famoso pelas touradas até o início do Século XX este marco simboliza a equidistância da capital matogrossense em relação aos extremos do continente. Hoje funciona a câmara de vereadores em um prédio cedido pela assembléia legislativa do estado.

Este é o verdadeiro Centro geodésico. Fica no Centro de Cuiabá. Possui um obelisco e as marcações no solo. Vale a pena a visita para umas fotografias.
