Unfortunately it was closed for visit when i was in Salvador, but this is a must in Salvador. this talks about the city's history of slaves import and sale.

If you have read some of Jorge Amado's novels, this is a must see place to go to. A lot of explanations are in Portuguese but it is still a very fascinating place to visit to get to know more about this Brazilian writer.

If you are familiar with this novelist then the museum has descriptions of his writings (and in English) throughout and you will appreciate what is here. Also excellent view of the old city from the upper windows.

Jorge Amado was a great author with plenty of masterpieces. His museum is didactic but very simple. The foreign people who does not know him will leave with a wrong impression.

This museum is dedicated to the life and literary work of the great Jorge Amado. If you do not know who he is, please take this opportunity to correct this little scar in your cultural skin. If you know who he is, enjoy for one hour, recalling the extraordinary novels he wrote and the beautiful human being he was.

An agttractive, very informative exhibition (thankfully with English translations) which encouraged us to look for his titles to read. The prices of English-language ones at the shop were prohibitive- double the price in local currency.

Jorge Amado was one of the most famous Brazilian modern writers. His work has been translated in many languages and many of his novels were turn into movies. Fundacao J. Amado is a beautiful light blue building in the heart of the Pelourinho, the historical center of Salvador de Bahia. Inside the museum you have documents and panels about the life and works of this great character, that is one of my favourite writes. Very nice!

This is a very interesting museum which is actually Brazilian writer Jorge Amado's former house right smack in the center of the Pelhourinho district. Don't see how he got any work done! It has many of his artifacts, his typewriter, etc., and histories of all his novels. Folks who haven't read Amado may not be very interested, but if you're in Bahia, this writer captures Brazil, and specifically Bahia, like no other. Recommend a visit for Amado fans.

In the middle of Pelourinho, Casa de Jorge Amado hosts a history of the writer with objects, manuscripts, book covers and other memorabilia. You can get most of his books here (which are often hard to procure even in Brazil). And awesome acarajé right in front.

Since you will be in the Pelourinho, is worth going to visit the home of one of the most renowned names in Brazilian literature.
