Gran Sabana is a place you wont find in other countries, they have those flat mountains on the top called tepuy, to arrive to the Salto Aponwao you need to drive trought a rolute withouth asfalt, you will arrive in a small village where you need to take a boat trought a river and finally you arrive on the top of the watterfall, you can go down trought a pass where you are able to see the watterfall completly and come so close to take photos. You also can keep walking 45 minutes more and visit and place to take a nice bath,

Salto Aponwao or "Chinak Merú" in native Pemon language is the tallest waterfall on the oriental part of the Canaima Park, La Gran Sabana. To get there you have to go offroad about 42 km. On the Troncal 10 via Santa Elena de Uairen, then take the exit west at Luepa´s Militar Base Airport. (You need a 4x4 to get there) then you will arrive to Liworiwo Village, were you will take a motor boat on the Aponwao river (Bs. 50 per person / about 7 dollars), 45 minutes trip to the top of cascade, then a 10 min. walk to the waterfall, 105 mts of massive water falling into Jaspis stone, then you have the option to hike down the waterfall on marked trail with some hand rails, (about 50 min. down and up hill) Swimming is not allowed but you will be complete wet if you stay longer in front on the waterfall. Down the river there´s some other small falls like "Pozo Escondido" (Hidden Well) and "Pozo del amor" (love´s well). You can camp on Liworiwo village, there´s also toilettes and restaurants, and there´s some Inns not far from there like Chivaton Camp, Kavanayen Village and Kamoiran Inn (on the main road Troncal 10)You can get a all inclusive jeep tour from Puerto Ordaz, Ciudad Bolivar or Santa Elena de Uairen

GO! so nice, you won't regret going...not many places like that in the world. Very impressive. The nature is beautiful. Words are not enough to express what you are going to see.

You can't go to Canaima on your way to Angel Falls without a visit to Salto Aponguao. Canaima Lagoon is spectacular and with so many other waterfalls in Venezuela, Salto Aponguao doesn't get the recognition it should. High water season is spectacular. Get one of the locals to take you up close and personal and be amazed at the thunderous water and spray from this wonderful site.

Un hermoso salto. La llegada en lancha es muy linda recorriendo el río, el salto es gigante y uno lo tiene ahí bien cerca. Siguiendo el camino y yendo hasta la cascada con el pequeño lago es mágico.
