The Teatro Teresa Carreno was completed in the early eighties. It is a remarkable work of architecture and is situated very centrally in Caracas. It is used mainly for classical concerts and operas now that Venezuela has developed into a nation of symphony orchestras and of classical music. We have been to various performances, the last one being an homage to the late great Paco de Lucia. It is a great theater with a very laid back atmosphere. The building has a very open structure with various staircases and promenades to enjoy the lush gardens. Fortunately the buiding is all concrete so that lack of maintenance has hardly affected the building. The acoustic is not really the best but atmosphere and building compensate this amply. Recommended also since Caracas has very attractive cultural events. Recommended also to come very early in order to be able to park.

The Teresa Carreño Cultural Complex, also known as Teresa Carreño Theater, is the most important theatre of Caracas and Venezuela, where performances include symphonic and popular concerts, opera, ballet and plays. We visited there and went to hear a concert with a folkloric dances building is amazing and all the complex make you feel you want to be a part of it.

amazing modern architecture and good sound quality - the entrace hall is really beatiuful but the outside is better than the inside of the theater

This is a once beautiful theatre that used to be frequented by high society and music lovers as a cross section of Venezuelan Society. Since Hugo Chavez took it over to hold his "meetings", I don't know anyone that dares go close to the place. It is in front of the old Hilton Hotel which is now a Chavista "ALBA" hotel, and the whole area has suffered terribly. Because Caracas does not have many venues for cultural exchanges, many performers simply do not come anymore to Venezuela. What once was a vibrant theatre is now practically abandoned. On top of that, there is almost no place to park, certainly not on the street where after a performance you are taking your life in your hands, but even in the ALBA Hotel, frequented by the lowest of the low of the Venezuelan populace, I would be afraid to park. Go watch a movie in your hotel room instead.

See whatever is playing at this lovely theatre. Great sound. Offers plenty of Venezuelan and Latin American culture. Venezuela has a great symphony.

it used to be a culture place, now has to share its space with the presidents speeches, so you have to go and find if there are plays availables very nice showroom , cheap tkts

Got 10 BsF tickets to see contemporary dance as part of the International Festival of Theatre. Although we didn't get to go into the main hall, the basement was set up for a surreal hour of lights, colours, music and stamina.
