beautiful ocean, great beaches, great snorkeling, i wish we could have dove. we will be back and make sure to dive. it is a small rustic island. so you are here for beauty and the water activities. on our boat tour around the island we stopped in what looks like the middle of nowhere so i could snorkel since we already went to crab cay. it was rough water that day but still great! depth of 30 + feet i saw coral tons of fish and 3 rays!

Turquoise waters, mangroves, small cays, what's not to like? Plus, the island has not suffered from mass tourism, so everything is really well preserved.

When we visited McBean Lagoon, our plan was to go snorkelling rather than see the site. We went on an excursion organised by the hotel which included going around Providencia and an hour's snorkelling at McBean Lagoon. When you arrive at the Lagoon you have to pay for entry - Colombian Nationals pay 8000 Colombian Pesos, whilst foreigners pay 13500. We then spent about 20 minutes walking up to an overlook which had a nice view at the top. There is someone there from the National Park at the top who helps you climb to the peak and will take all the photographs of you that you want as it's quite narrow and steep. Unfortunately there can be a bit of a queue that develops. Not only that but we completely forgot about snorkelling so that we only had about 10 minutes in the water. If snorkelling is your primary reason for visiting then you should forget about the overlook and instead enjoy the crystal clear and relatively warm waters instead.

La Providencia is an island in the Caribbean under the flag of Colombia and is the most peaceful beautiful and romantic island one could ever imagine. Void of tourists, fine accommodations, excellent food (pescado) on the beach which is very affordable, and the beaches are spotless. We were there in March and will be going back soon, only qualified travelers please.

Providencia is an island that locals and Colombians describe as "rustic". You pay a tax to enter the island because it is supposed to be an ecological preserve and hence protected. There is, however, zero investment in the island's infrastructure, beaches are not cleaned, and sun loungers are not repaired just left to decay. There are a number of good restaurants on the island with good service. The sea around Providencia is stunning: crystal clear waters and the natural park gives you an opportunity to experience some of the best diving experiences you are likely to have with 100% visibility. Awesome!

Here you can have very beautiful dives, and if you don't dive, there are beautiful beaches and the island itself is very charming. Nice hotels and great seafood. Lovely plan for families.

We hired the kajaks to a local fisherman who guided us from on beach of Santa Catalina island to the manglar located in Macbean Lagoon National park. The race was about 1 hour going to a lagoon. The natural limits of the lagoon are the manglar themselves which conform a beautiful natural road in a kind of short labyrinth. Once in the lagoon, we watched birds and listen our echo and felt a deep sensation of peace connecting to mother Nature. After that, we approached a hill where we watched the beauty of the lagoon and the national park. This was an unforgettable experience.

Es un parque hermoso,, con solo salir de la isla y mirarla desde fuera es una experiencia única. Luego de 20 minutos en lancha llegas a cayo cangrejo, desde donde puedes apreciar la isla de Providencia en contraste con un océano cristalino, con todas las tonalidades del turquesa que uno puede imaginar. Además la oportunidad de nadar en torno a cayo cangrejo, es una experiencia única de contacto con la fauna marina, pude ver tortugas, mantarrayas, peces de diferentes colores y tamaños, corales.
