Popayan is known for it's churches and religious celebrations, so a tour of the churches is a must and this is one you shouldn't miss. It's a little different from all the rest, a bit more modern and simple but still with plenty of 'wow'.

American Catholics might be surprised by the relative absence of baroque ornamentation in this church, a feature even more pronounced in the town's Cathedral a few blocks away on Parque Caldas. Both are unexpectedly severe designs, right down to the unpadded and immovable kneelers, and all the more suited to quiet contemplation as a result.

It is the largest colonial church is the city and very worth a visit. If you have a chance to go inside please do, it is great especially high altar and 7 side altarpieces. It is on the corner of Cra 9th and Cll 4th. It was restored after the 1983 earthquake.

it is one block away from the plaza central.many other nice old spanish style buildings around - all are very well restored!i was surprised how well maintained the old city center was.

Very beautiful! Great culture of Colombia. People in Popayan are very friendly. Big and nice church.

Sono stato nel periodo della Semana Santa, tutto era addobbato per la processione della via Crucis che è famosa in questa città . Si sente la spiritualità e la devozione della popolazione. La chiesa e' ricca e particolare come tutte le chiese di San Francesco in tutto il Sud America. Da vedere se si ha la possibilità nel periodo di Pasqua.

Linda iglesia con encanto de estilo barroco, el mayor atractivo de Popayan es su arte religioso que se puede apreciar en esta Iglesia, visita obligada al estar en la ciudad.

En una ciudad como Popayán es obligatorio realizar la visita de las iglesias pues cada una cuenta con sus historias y belleza. En esta iglesia se notan muchas diferencias con las demás, es imponente, ubicada en un sector maravilloso de la ciudad. Debe ser visitada!
