A great place to hang out before going to the Teatro Metropolitano...lovely lights in the bamboo garden, some decent restaurants...but that close very early...

Travelling with kids? Need a freebie activity to burn off some energy? Try Barefoot Park! Between the EPM building and Plaza Mayor is a sandy area where the kids can dig and climb. And beware, there are actually attendants who will yell at you if you don't take your shoes off! There are shallow pools where you can sit in the shade and soak your feet in the cool water. Bring a towel and some extra clothes so you can splash in the fountains. Everyone needs to wear shirts to play in the fountains so make sure to pack those as well. There are lots of ice cream and popsicle vendors to help you cool off, and of course all the restaurants nearby. We just happened to find this while going to a restaurant and ended up hanging out for a couple hours. Our twin 4-year-old boys loved it and were out like a light within minutes of heading home!

Lots of street vendors all around, restaurants, light park,and more We even bought LED strip lights at a vendor in a stall in a building next door. Super nice quality and great price.

One of the best food & wine events in Medellin. A lot of local restaurants and wine importers/distributors gather together to offer you at very good prices lots of wines and pairing food to enjoy with friends and family. Tip: go in a taxi because you are going to drink a lot!

nice spacious plaza surrounded by very modern design buildings and lot´s of green (Bamboo).on one building there are lots of restaurants all of them with outside seating - surely you will find your choice of food.it is in walking distance to many other places to see in Medellin - just about 15 min walk to plaza Cisneros (with the light poles) and from there you reach San Antonio Metro station in another 7 to 10 min.

Just spent two days at an event in Plaza Mayor. The property is huge with many large spaces for expos, trade fairs, etc, as well as smaller spaces for less massive and more intimate meetings. It is a modern world class facility The place is clean and well laid out but the acoustics in some of the conferences we participated was less than optimal. At one point we began hearing salsa music while one of the speakers was delivering his address; it was both disruptive and funny at the same time. Soon after it began, a lady took the podium and apologized for the snafu because someone had scheduled and event in the lower floor of the basically open structure which, in essence, did not acoustically separated the events. The music did stop but the damage was done. It is an easy place to get in and out and there are restaurants in the vicinity. Still, it is a good place to hold an event.
