it is a must to see. avoid saturdays since it is crowded. i went on a saturday. the statues are amazing and liberal. i had a look at the shops nearby and i was able to see the coiffure there working in their shops that are open to street. the museum is nice also.

It is worthwhile visit to see impressive Botero sculptures but except sculptures there are really no other reasons to stay in this part of town. Be cautious and visit it during the day only.

Maybe is was because we visited on a Saturday, but the area was filled with people buying an shopping on the plaza. This area seems to be a center of retail for main population of the city, very different form shopping the Poblado area. But we enjoyed the art and had one of our best meals from the small cafes around the corner. The museum was next door and we visited that as well. We went back on a Sunday and it was empty, most places were closed.

Everything seems to be closed on Mondays in Medellin so we found ourselves at Plaza Botero. The kids enjoyed trying the limonada and guanabana drinks that vendors were selling. They certainly are strange looking sculptures, and the kids just couldn't help but giggle at the naked ones! Despite our attempt to expose the boys to some art work, they thoroughly enjoyed chasing the pigeons and feeding them from a bag of corn a friendly man shared with them. I probably wouldn't make any special efforts to come to this sculpture park, but if you're in the area, it's nice to walk through.

I'm ashamed that I had not heard of Botero before this holiday. His work is stunning. He was born in Medellin and there are many of his sculptures here. It was an amazing experience to see them.

Fascinating plaza containing artist Botero's sculptures. Wish we had allowed ourselves a full day for both the Plaza and the Museum. Will definitely return in the future to fully appreciate the setting.

The sculptures of Botero are impressive, but the open prostitution and extremely noisy street vendors is oppresive, not to say the uneasyness one feels of being robbed by pick-pockets. If not for the noise, smell, trash, etc. the Plaza could be a very nice place to visit. ¡Que lastima! What a shame.

The Medellin Plaza is in the old part of town. The Botero sculptures are positioned with enough distance between them so can enjoy them. They are amazing! The only ways to get there are by taxi or the Metro (which we used to return to our hotel; it was quite crowded!). Also, you will find the Botero Museum at the Plaza; very interesting many of Botero's paintings!

If you like that sort of thing, there's plenty to see. Sculptures and art, all on the slightly large side, maybe due to all the bakeries and pasta places around.

This is a very interesting place. Yes, there is art there, vendors there, good security, restaurants, and lots of music all around. However, we did see lots of "working girls". Hmmm...... made for interesting photos since the girls were standing in front of all of the sculptures in their very interesting tight and skimpy outfits.
