A young school girl was given the "official" guide uniform and her first tour was commendable. This humble facility is a delight. They attempt to educate the public and help save marine wildlife. A folksy, friendly and somewhat impoverished place. Give then a donation for their good work.

The aquarium at Valdivia is a great way to get up close and personal with some of the local fauna in Ecuador. Yes, it is a very small and low budget operation but to me this was part of the charm! We got to feed the penguins, pet the tortoises and hold the turtle hatchlings, sea cucumbers and urchins. The best thing about your visit it is provides much needed funds for their wildlife rescue and rehabilitation project. It's cheap to get in ($3 I think) so they really do need your help, most of the animals there have been found injured and are in the process of recovering so they can be rereleased. We saw 3 species of sea turtle, two species do penguins, a sea lion, many birds including blue footed boobies, an octopus, shark eggs and much more. Easy to get to from Montañita, just flag down any south bound bus and see if they pass through Valdivia and tell them you want the Aquario Valdivia. If they don't know it just get off in Valdivia it's only small someone will direct you. It is located near an intersection where the main road (highway) splits in two, just after the centre of town, around about where you see the beach for the first time. There are signs or ask to friendly locals. Note they are currently in a temporary building closer to the water than the original big building which looks closed for repairs.They also take volunteers! I wish I had more time so I could do this. And I believe it's free to volunteer unlike most projects nowadays.

es un acuario muy pequeño donde tratan de tener a los animales que encuentran en su mayoría heridos para que se recuperen. nuestro guía fue encantador niño muy bien instruido por cierto, sin embargo, le falta mucho para llamarse acuario, tengo entendido que ya esta listo el nuevo acuario mucho mas grande y en mejores condiciones.

A idéia é muito honrada e valorosa, salvar os animais que se machucam. O local atual é pequeno e não tem muita infra-estrutura, no entanto estão construindo um novo aquário. Gostei.

un buen lugar para distraerse y aprender un poco de las especies flora y la fauna marina. Salir un poco de la playa

Una opcion interesante para cuando llueve (nunca) o para cuando estas aburrido de la playa y la divercion. se pueden ver expecies de la flora y Fauna marina de todo ecuador.Para salir de la rutina!
