This is a historical park located across the street from the cathedral which is also worth a visit. Lots of iguanas and squirrels in the park, and lots of gold in the cathedral.

These old buildings are beautiful and we know how they kept cool with no air con! There is a fantastic old tram outside brilliant for a family photo especially if you only have 4 in the photo. You have a great view down river to Guayaquil and a nice cool breeze. The gardens are beautiful and they lead on to a fantastic zoo

When visiting Guayaquil you must go to Parque Historico. It's a very informative tour. You see the native wildlife and learn about Ecuadorean culture and history. Great for individuals as well as families. If available ask for Juan for an tour in english. He gives a fantastic tour. Go early because it can get crowded fast.

Great place to go for a day trip. The admission is free. There are many indigenous animals and birds to see while you walk through a tropical like forest. There are several historic buildings from the colonial era. Very interesting day there is also a café which offers local specialties.

There really are two parts to this park. The first half is walkway through a very natural zoo. After the zoo there is an actual historical area. Visitors can go into a huge old mansion that was moved here from downtown Guayaquil. There is also a small chapel that was part of a convalescent home in the early 1900s. The rooms of that are now being converted into a hotel. There is also a replica of a coastal peasant house and the old plantation house from a cacao estate as well as agricultural exhibits. There is no food available in the zoo but there are several small stands near the old houses that sell snacks, empanadas, and beverages. There are also two shopping malls with food courts and grocery stores just two to three blocks away. This is an absolute must-see if you are visiting Guayaquil.

No admission fee to Parque Historico. It has a nice collection of animals and plants you can find in Ecuador. It has a large garden area with many different plants to include cacao and coffee trees. The buildings have been restored or in the process at this time. It appears that many of the larger porch and patio areas are used for different special events as they were setting up shelters and chairs. They also have a small snack shop and other displays with information describing the site. We took the cab from the downtown Hampton to Historico for $5.00 round trip. He came back at a designated time about four hours later, which was perfect.

This is a beautiful natural habitat park which showcases indigenous birds, animals and plants. Simply lovely! Very shaded, spotless bathrooms and an easy walk on raised decking. Unless you plan to spend part of your time in Ecudor in the Amazon and rain forest, this is a must see attraction!!
