It was raining that day so we were unable to see all of the village. We started by hearing about the history of Samoa, the people and the culture. This was very interesting and also made quite funny too. We got to see lady preparing a tapa cloth, and two ladies making sarongs. We then saw how coconuts were traditionally opened and invited to try some. We also saw how coconut milk was made. The village was free, but donations were welcome.

Samoan people are extreamly proud of their culture and want to share their ways of life with anyone & everyone who is willing to take the time to learn, listen and respect . Chief-Pati, Chris, Lucky & Popea help us understand what it is to be samoan - sharing with us family obligations to elders, superiors, family, community, church and the environment. Teaching us many different things vital to the samoan way of life and its heritage. This includes:- samoan tapa cloth making, music, fire knife dancing, tradition food, fire making, tradition tatu, and the many ways of using the islands treasured coconut. This is a must have experience if you are visiting Samoa! Please know this is a free event so dig deep with your tips guys & girls, as these boys put a lot of love and passion into what they do! So I recommend you show them some love in return!

In a country where a lot of tourism people do not seem to do much ( we found many in the tourist office and some guides did not have a lot of knowledge ), Chris is an outstanding representative of his culture. Passionate about his country and traditions, he is eloquent and should be the public image of Samoa tourism.
