Long pathways right next to the mutton bird nesting areas, l waited patiently but alas no live mutton birds around but instead some delightful and very laid back Black wallabies were feeding just off the path. One wallably even had a paddle near the island entranceway then jumped along the path inbetween bemused human pedestrians. A peaceful and quiet experience with beautiful ocean views.

We rode our bikes around this island. Half was made paths and half we had to take our bikes on the beach sand. Is was so very peaceful. Cool, crisp sea air, the roar of waves and the calls of the sea birds made this a wonderful hour or so (depending on how fast you peddle ... we went slowly by choice). Stopped to talk to local fishing "experts" (they must be, they caught fish), visited the lighthouse and checked out the signs of a long gone house and garden. Stick to the paths, the birds appreciate this.

Watching the Mutton Birds return to their nests in the evening is a wonderful sight and quite remarkable. Well worth having an early or late supper to make sure you don't miss the sight.

My wife and I visited this island just off Port Fairy around dusk on the evening of 10th March. We had seen many kangaroos in the drive from Auburn and Adelaide but they were all dead on the side of the road. This was our first sighting of real live ones and it was a great treat for both of us to see.

My family and I decided to have a walk around the island and we weren't disappointed. There are different walks you can do, some gentle and small, others the whole way round (which we did). We came across the Black Wallaby near the lighthouse just by chance and clearly he likes having his picture taken as he wasn't phased by us. Parts of the beach were sadly covered in dead gulls which wasn't very nice to see but i think there were notices about poison around so it might be down to that.If you have a spare hour or so then it's a pleasant walk.

We stopped in Port Fairy for a short rest, at least that was the plan. After discovering Griffiths Island we decided to walk to the lighthouse and explore the Island a bit more. Good choice! This is a beautiful place ...

We went there around the end of the day and could see quite a number of wallabies. The track last about 1 hour, 1.5 hours, is nice and quite.

Although I tripped and fell here resulting in a severe wrist injury the island is well worth a look it takes about an hour to walk around and makes for a pleasant walk ...

I took this walk at about 10 o'clock on a slightly misty day. This was a good time to do the walk round the island as I saw 3 wallabies right near to the path which was amazing. I also saw various birds, The walk was very pleasant and does include some walking on the beach. It was quite isolated and as I was on my own I was feeling slightly nervous however there were some other people I recognised form our hotel so I must admit I kept them in sight.
