Okay, you can't pick up the animals for pics, But as you pay your entry, you get a bag of feed for when you walk out the door to the reserve. You are greated by cute little friendly wallabies who will feed out of your hand, (get the camera ready) & take an amazing relaxing walk through the area, watching an array of native wildlife. If your lucky, the Big Reds (Kangaroos) will come bounding up the valley to take the rest of your feed bags off your hands literally! The reptile & Bat encloses are amazing. Definitely worth a stop off for if your planning on seeing the penguins at night. Café & sovenior shop is also on site

Up close with so many beautiful animals; finally a place you can interact with the wildlife and with no massive crowds. Would recommend this place to anyone. We had the best time! The park is huge and you can venture wherever you like. A++

We had such fun here, the kids were able to feed wallabies and be up close and personal with all of the animals. Definitely worth a visit.

Koalas are such cute tree hugging animals and you can see them here and hold them too. You can feed Kangaroos here and also play with them is they're in the mood. One white kangaroo even started climbing on and hugging my pretty missus. Wallabies, Dingoes, Emu, Kookaburra and a few other exotic species of the animal kingdom can be seen here up close. Kids will love this place. You can also pick souvenirs here at decent prices.

As others have said, the place is a bit run down - but an overall great experience. Especially being an American and never having the opportunity to pet and feed kangaroos and other native animals - this truly was a great experience. The fee to get into the park is modest, and they give you a bag of food. I learned a lot and my daughter - who is 10 had the time of her life here. We have pictures of her hand feeding the kangaroos, giving one a hug, standing by other birds and emus, and then some of koalas - up close, but not within their "handling" areas. In addition - a big tip for travelers - this is the place to get souvenirs for friends back home. As an example, a boomerang that I saw at other places for $14, they had for $6. They had a large selection of t-shirts, hats, magnets and all the other type of things at a fraction of the price. They had a lot of items that were actually made in Australia, versus made in China with an Australian name on it. I picked up a lot of items and spent about $75. Especially nice place for tourists (and with the current US exchange rate, this was an even better deal).

This park is good for children to feed the animals, you are given a bag of food. This park is very dry due to Melbourne not having enough rain.

I quite enjoyed walking around and looking at all the animals and feeding them. I did however notice that a lot of the areas are run down and looking a bit sad hopefully a renovation is on the cards soon. I did feel sorry for some of the birds tho like the seaeagles one looked like it had a sore claw. Overall it was a good time

Driving through the main Philip Island road, this park would be on the left just before the major attractions of the island start. We stumbled here by accident having thought of Maru (Bass Highway) earlier, but which could close for the day before we arrived. This facility has a number of Australian marsupials, birds, dingos and a few Koalas. The entry fee is nominal and the animals are mostly in the open. Never knew I could find kangaroos in the open and touch and feed them. They are really friendly creatures. The park appears small from the entrance, but opens up once inside. The little souvenir shop at the entrance can help day travellers grab some gifts in a hurry. Some of the enclosures were dirty and unkept, and the washrooms were not as clean.

If you have an overnight stay in Melbourne, you should consider a visit to Phillip Island Wildlife Park for their daily sunset penguin parade at Summerland Beach. It is roughly 2- 2 1/2 hour ride from Melbourne. The easiest is probably join up with a scheduled tour bus from Melbourne. There are many options to choose from as some go directly to Phillip Island for the parade and perhaps have a dinner stop and some start earlier in the afternoon and they make some stops to Animal Parks, view points for photos, etc. before arriving to Phillip Island. Since we went during their winter (our summer) the sunset was earlier~ 5:15 p.m.; therefore, our dinner stop was scheduled after the penguin parade. It is in this particular area that these unique little penguins (around 13-16 in. tall) come back during sunset from the beach looking for food all day and land back at their burrows. They walk back very orderly taking turns to cross the river and back to their burrows. There are several options for the seating to watch the little penguins. We paid extra for the boardwalk seats where we had the opportunity to see the little penguins up close as they walked across the river. W were about 20-30 feet away. The tour bus drops you off and gives you enough time to visit their Visitor Centre as well as their gift shops before heading out to either the bleachers or the boardwalk seats for the penguin parade. They allow you to stay around an hour after the sun has set which is ample time to witness such a scene. In spite of their strict rules against photography here (disturbs the penguin's vision), it is still worth the visit to such a unique place. It is a guaranteed show every night and the little penguins are pretty much on time when they arrive back at Summerland Beach at sunset. A memorable visit for sure!
