I love history and looking at old photos etc. If your looking for something different to do and have never been - its worth going into and seeing the historical remnants of this beautiful town :)

This review is about the museum in Flinders St Townsville and not the Townsville Historical Society & Museum at Currajong. The Townsville Historical Society and Museum has very interesting articles displayed covering items used from the old days such carpenters tools, radios, photographs of bygone times, cyclones that hit Townsville etc. Well worth a visit. Should be a must for those who remember the old days.

It's been a while since I went, but there were no reviews so I thought I'd contribute.The museum is right next to Reef HQ and the IMAX theatre, so if you have time left after those 2, come to the museum. It takes about an hour or 2 to look through everything, maybe longer with children, or if you don't know too much about Australian wildlife already. There is a section which changes exhibit every month, and this exhibit is usually advertised outside on posters, and are quite good. The standard exhibits which are always there are not excellent, but still have good info. There is a lot of info on marine environment and wildlife, as well as some local history and events.If you're limited for time, then Reef HQ is much more value for money, but if you have the time, then the museum is still worth a trip.
