Inaccessible due to it being the wet season except from the air so we did a scenic flight over the top of Jim Jim and Twin Falls which I would highly recommend. Quite a sight!

Being born in the territory camping is something we do every dry season. This was my first time to jim jim and I was instantly impressed by the camp grounds, heaps of camp sights with fire pits and table and chairs. It wasn't to hard to find fire wood but possibly stop on your drive in to pick up wood on the way to make it easier. There are HEAPS of toilet and shower facilities. Segregated into women's and men's. The location of the camping aight is beautiful, on sunrise and sun set the colours from the sun light you the huge rock fave with pinks oranges and reds, so beautiful and impressive. The drive into jimjim is all dirt, although it isn't to rough there are sections where you definitely need a 4wd, so like the sign says 4ws only other wise you may get into a bit of trouble. The drive I is beautiful so make sure you take your camera it goes from dense over hanging trees, almost rain Forrest like, to wide open spaces with beautiful colored rock and sand, the whole time driving in you follow the rock/gorge face in which is equally beautiful, so a camera is a must! Once you reach the car park at the bringing of the walk there is another toilet and info board. The walk starts of just like a bush track with slight incline's but nothing to strenuous, you come past a little billabong/water hole which is beautiful DO NOT SWIM in there though, unless you want to be croc food. as you walk closer to the falls that is where boulders apear and a little climbing has to take place (appropriate foot wear is a must,as well as heaps of water).. Then once the track is finished that is when to serious climbing takes place, I was 6 months pregnant at the time and found it not to hard but I'm quiet tall and fit, but if you are short or have a bit of age about you, taking your time is a must! You have to climb over rocks for about 15mins give or take, and when I say rocks they are huge. But once the climbing is over you come to a beautiful little beach under the jim jim falls. You can swim at the base, but being born up here I know where there is water there is crocs, so I didn't swim but there where a fue people swimming. The climb back seems so much easier then that of the way in. We took food and drinks to have once we got to the base of the falls, as we got to the base at lunch which is the only time there is sun on the falls as it is so high. We really enjoyed our stay at jim jim and it was well worth staying over night as it is so beautiful, and there is nothing better then waking up in the middle of the night to see the milky way, and the black sky lit up with millions of stars. We thought this was the best camp ground we have ever stayed at, the only fault was you have to let the showers run for a little bit for it to get hot but that is nothing, have to do that at home as well. A MUST see for anyone who hasn't been to jim jim.

This is a beautiful part of the park and you should go here when you are able to. Our class had a very good time!

After a quiet a trip on a dirt road, you do have to walk & climb to reach the falls. The small creek along the route that you need to climb looks tempting for a swim but be carefull, the creek is not fed by waterfall so crocs might be around despite the efforts of the governement to keep the place croc free. And with a climb, we mean you have climb over big(er) & small(er) rocks and follow the signs. Unfortunately the waterfall was dry when we got there.

A great challenge to make the last bit of trail to the base of Jim Jim Falls in Kakadu National Park. Rewarded with wonderful red stone cliffs and a refreshing dip in the cool pools at the end of the trail. The waterfalls were not flowing so late in the dry season but the scenery and invigorating hike were great fun.

The walk to Jim Jim Falls was not far but over a lot of rocks with no clear path. It was often necessary to steady yourself with your hands and the rocks are very hot in the middle of the day not surprisingly. You need a reasonable level of fitness and to be steady on your feet. The swim at the end was beautiful with many fish in the water. There was no "falls" to speak of at the end of the dry season so probably go at the beginning of the dry season to experience the full beauty.

We had a great day at the Jim Jim and twin falls. Took a tour bus as our rental 4wd doesn't allow access to this area in its agreement (worth checking in advance). In the end I don't think we would have enjoyed the self drive as the bus driver earned his money and we sat in comparative comfort. We have two children 8 and 'nearly 6'. The 8 year old did it easily. The 5 year old had to work hard and took a lot of our time. The reward at the end of both walks were worth it. The 'pool' at Jim Jim was life saving. We didn't go the extra 100 metres to the plunge pool, but the beach pool was just fine for the majority of our group. Well worth the effort and the cost.

We did a 4wd tour with Top End Explorer Tours.Yes, the walk is graded as difficult. The 5 of us on this tour were all over the age of 60 with 1 over 70... so if you are fit and agile with a good sense of balance don't be put off. Most of the walk is in shade as well, so even on the 38 degree day that we were there, it wasn't that bad. The 900 metre walk took about 50 minutes with some stops along the way while our guide imparted information about the flora and crocs. Closer to the falls the rocks get bigger so I had to put my camera away so I could use both hands to climb up or down them.Even though there wasn't any water coming over the falls the scenery is, as I overheard someone describe, "wow...awesomeness". You feel so small standing at the base of the towering cliffs.

Great walk but quite difficult especialy towards the end as the rocks are extremely big. The swimming hole is spectacular and very cold but great for a cool down after the walk up there.
