A little North of Rotorua, this is our favourite destination in Rotorua. It is a place of spiritual calm and serenity. There is easy parking and free entry. Water birds enjoy the river as it flows out towards the lake. The river bed is glistening white sand, over which the river takes on an aqua hue, and against this the large trout are silhouetted. There is a walk through the silent redwood forest carpeted with fallen pine needles. And the springs erupt out of the large pool, producing a million gallons of crystal clear water every hour. This is a magic place for contemplation, not to be rushed. Entry is free. It is surprising it doesn't feature more prominently on tourist brochures.

Brilliant! Crystal clear water, beautiful stand of redwoods, well kept track and easily accessible. Plenty of birds and fish to see.

I can't do a lot of walking due to injury, but really enjoyed the splendid walk through the coastal redwood trees which, a sign explains, are only babies having been planted in 1919 (from memory). The path is very clearly defined with good views of the stream at various points. We made two sightings of very large brown trout in the crystal clear waters where the bottom was sandy, and another where there was weed on the bottom but that one was very hard to spot.The springs themselves were quite impressive, with excellent viewing platforms and informative signage. We returned on the same path through the redwoods as what we could see of the path on the other side of the stream looked a bit sterile in comparison.

It is a very beautiful place. However, we got lost a few times. the tracts are not well signed. The tracks in Redwoods Forest are much better singed.

A nice walk along the Hamurana stream up to the source. Interesting facts about the stream displayed. No swimming allowed in it in this vacinity but allowed down by the stream mouth going into lake Rotorua. Beautiful clear water but very cold.

This free park offers a short relatively flat trail through redwoods to the springs, with a return through more open grassy areas by the golf course. The springs are a main water source for the area, and the water is so clear you will not believe you are looking down that far. It is a cool. refreshing wander for an hour or so.

This is a free attraction around 15 minutes drive from Rotoura. The water from the springs is crystal clear you can see all the way to the bottom - To get to the spring there is a walk through redwood trees - just a awesome experience being one with nature. We packed a picnic lunch and really enjoyed our time at the springs. Its easy to take a pram/stroller for those with kids.

We really enjoyed this short walk through a redwood forest grove, to the spring, the dancing sand spring and back along the river and golf course. Pleasant scenery, lots of birds about (saw Eastern rosellas) and it doesn't cost you anything. Parking is at the golf club. You can do the whole thing in less than an hour, we took our time observing birds and sitting down at one of the benches and took two hours. It wasn't busy either, occasionally another group would pass but there was plenty of time to enjoy the nature undisturbed.

Untouched natural springs. Crystal clear water. Easy walking through bits of Redwood trees. A must do if around the Rotorua area. The only downside is "No swimming allowed" but understandably so to keep the springs in pristine condition.

A really beautiful walk through the impressive redwood trees. The water coming from the springs is incredibly crystal clear.Make sure you take your camera.
