Truly a great walk whith wonderful views and scenery and beautiful campgrounds (as always) thanks to the great efforts of the DOC. Conical Hill is worth the effort. We walked from Routeburn Shelter to The Divide, which we think was a good choice considering the sequence of the walks fascinating features and elevation.Transport is something to think of way in advance as the distance between start and end is huge. We think Easyhike does a great job - when cruzing around NZ with your own transport and with two persons or more, vehicle relocation is the only sensible transport option when tramping Routeburn, in terms of cost, convenience and time efficiency. Easyhike provides this service reliably, flexibly and responsively. We appreciated especially that we could arrange for relocation at such short notice (i.e. one day) and that Easyhike was proactive in ensuring that relocation of our campervan was accommodated by our rental company. Thumbs up!

My husband and I had a fabulous day trip on the Routeburn, from the Glenorchy side (Routeburn Shelter) ending at The Divide (Milford side). Most people think you have to take 2 to 4 days to do the Routeburn -- and this is what the brochures from the Department of Conservation recommend -- and that you need a guide. But if you are in decent shape to hike 20 miles, and you're traveling in New Zealand's summer time with relatively good weather, you can do it in one day unguided, as my husband and I did (it took us 9 hours, which included jogging a bit of the flat stretches, but we also stopped to picnic and take photos quite a long time. I would budget 10 hours to be on the safe side). The advantage to doing it in one day is then you only need a day pack with a day's worth of food, rather than a heavy pack for overnight camping. We absolutely loved the diversity of sites on this track -- from dense, mossy, fern-filled beech tree forests (following a gorgeous clear river) to high-alpine zones with wide-open wind-swept views. For details on logistics, and to see a lot of photos, please see my blog post, http://www.therunnerstrip.com/2015/03/routeburn-track-guide/I highly recommend hiking here -- whether you do it in a day, or enjoy the huts for overnight accommodations and take 2 - 4 days. The huts all looked very well constructed and comfortable. I have traveled all over NZ's North and South Islands, and this was hands-down one of my most memorable experiences.

One of the most outstanding outdoors experiences in my 62 years. Scenery compares favorably to the North Cascades in Washington State, USA. The difference is that the DOC "huts" really make the trip comfortable because you always have a warm and dry place to spend the night. If you happen to be there when the weather is dry and cloudless, then you are in for an amazing treat--vistas everywhere you look. I do not understand those hikers who literally speed through--there is no way you can enjoy this hike unless you really spend the time to look around. One of the few places in the world where you can enjoy tremendous 360 degree views without climbing a high peak. A trip of a lifetime! I would do it again in an instant.

Track is awesome. If you're camping, the first day is disproportionately short and consequently it trickles into longer days afterwards. Aside from that, truly great hike. Don't forget this track is NOT a loop, which means you need a car hire service to bring your car from one end to the other, unless you're using a shuttle service, but frankly it's quite the drive between both ends and one service I inquired about mentioned the shuttle implied an overnight stay in Queenstown. I used EasyHike, which brought my car from one end to the other. Service was awesome. After a quick phone call, they sent an email with all the instructions which were crystal clear. Key box pickup and drop-off were conveniently located and man was I was happy to find my car at the end of the trek. Thank you EasyHike!!!!

We were really disorganised booking our Routbourn trek and didn't realise how busy it would be in February with Chinese New Year and the cricket! Was a beautiful 2 day hike made super easy by using Easy Hike to relocate our car! Easy hike were brilliant finding us a last minute driver and giving us car hire information (we got the last car left in queenstown!). The walk was stunning and highly recommend doing. We are both quite fit so found it relatively easy. We did this walk over 2 days and enjoyed it immensely.

Amazingly beautiful walk. The huts are great walk standard, I specially liked the Routeburn Falls hut. Lots of rain on the third day, so I was really happy to find my car relocated by Easyhike, to change into dry clothes, turn the heater on and drive on to my next destination!

We did this as part of Ultimate Hike's classic walk (both the Milford and the Routeburn tracks). On this track it rained the first two days and was clear on the last. For me, I think it was better in the rain, despite the difficulty of taking photographs. Coming across the Hollyford face and up to the Harris Saddle and then the last little descent to the top of the Routeburn Falls was magnificent despite the cold. Another must do. (But do it in comfort with hot showers and three course meals at night, and hot drinks along the way.

They have made tracks for few hours - upto four days where one can reach the summit near Milford Sound. Its dense , with river flowing by the side. exhilarating.Washroom at the entry point is very smelly.

We did a day hike on this track from Glenorchy to the flats hut & back. The track is beautifully maintained and the scenery is just gorgeous. We passed a beautiful river canyon and saw a group of people on a canyon adventure jumping off the rocks, sliding down rocks, etc. looked fun! Overall a fantastic day spent hiking!
