We were staying at the Pourvoirie du Cap au Leste and took the day trip to Monts Valin (less than one hour from Saguenay). The road was properly cleared from snow. The staff at the visitor center and the little store and cafe are friendly and very helpful. You take the snow-bus to the start of the track and it's a 1.5hour walk to the peak with a convenient refuge mid-way. we were lucky to be there on a sunny day and it was just gorgeous and worth the effort.DO NOT FORGET TO MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR THE SNOW BUS!!!!

We stopped here enroute from Tadoussac to Lac St Jean_ we decided to come south and come up the southern side of the Fjord. Im so glad we did. This park we only stopped at for 3hrs but it was fantastic. There is a great information centre sitting under the most awe inspring cliffs ive ever seen. I found out later that you can go along the cliffs at height clipped on !!We did the walk with young kids up to viewing point- hard climb but worth it. About 1/2 way is the biggest boulder ive seen sticking out of the ground overhanging the path. Myself and 2 kids climbed around and on top and we have agreat picture of 3 of us looking over the top at my very worried wife.Also spent time on sandy beach where river runs into the Fjord.Well worth either staying at overnight or just breaking the day up

Ive been to Parc National des Monts-Valin in summer and in winter. I highly recommend the showshoe trip to the "vallée des fantomes". Its 50$ to take the shuttle to get to the valley but it totally worth it. The view on top is breathtaking, and the snow that completly covers the trees its just amazing! Beautiful! It feels like a dream. What you see on the pictures, its really what it is there. You just fall in love with winter!I would suggest this activity to anyone in proper shape and that is ready to fight the cold for a few hours. You must be prepared, its usually 5 degrees colder on top of the mountain, and it was -21C when I was there. But since snowshoeing requires a bit of an effort, you stay relatively warm all the time. Plus there is a nice little chalet halfway during the hike where you can eat and sit in front of the fireplace to get warmer. Amazing winter adventure! I recommend it!

First it is important to note that we only spent one day in the park and just did a four or five hour day hike. Second, and as far as I can tell this statement goes for the majority of Canadian National Parks, they are not like their counterparts in the United States. Depending on what you are looking for in your trip, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. If you go to a park to get close to nature, hike, bike, camp and simply get away from it all then I think you will enjoy your visit to a Canadian National Park. If on the other hand you are looking to visit a park and have it be a full tourist experience, complete with gift shops, assorted restaurants and well orchestrated encounters with nature and complete with mapped routes and parking at scenic vistas etc…Then you may be disappointed. In one word, we thought this park was fantastic, our hike here was the highlight of our vacation. What made it so good was the peace and quite, the views and what was to us at least very unique woodlands/vegetation. The only downside was that with the exception of some frogs and toads, we didn’t see much wildlife.For the day hiker, the park is remote enough for you to feel like you are really alone, but not so remote that you start to worry about your gear, the time of day etc…If you are driving a car, note that your trip into the park will include about 10 miles of well packed gravel road.From what I could tell, the park offers a lot of opportunities for more advanced hikers. We found the rangers to be very friendly and helpful and fluent in English.

Bon, ne vous en faites pas, la journée de raquette a été super. Le personnel est professionnel, instruit et passionné. Robert qui nous à guidé hors piste est un pro. Nous avons pris la navette qui nous a amené aux sentiers. Environ 45 mins de route, il est important de réserver la navette à l'avance pour être sur d'avoir une place (voir le site de la SEPAQ). Ça vaut vraiment la peine et le coût. Sentier de la vallée des fantômes, 3 km allée, bonne pente sur les deux premiers mais accessible à la majorité des gens. Refuges chauffés sur le sentier.Malheureusement aujourd'hui les fantômes étaient pas mal dénudés après les vents des derniers jours. Mais la journée est mémorable malgré tout. Expérience à répéter. On a de très beaux coins à découvrir au Québec !!!! Allons jouer dehors!!!

Parc vraiment magnifique. Garde forestier très gentil et serviable. Nous a vraiment bien conseillé sur l'itinéraire.

Nous avons beaucoup aimé les sentiers. Toutefois nous y sommes allés à la fin juin et il y avait beaucoup de mouches noires. Assez pour être désagréable. Il y a de très beaux points de vue et beaucoup de sentier. À refaire !... en automne ou en hiver de préféfence

J'adore ce parc national! Le service à la clientèle est excellent et la vue dans tous les sentiers est superbe! Beaucoup de variété. Sentiers sur la montagne et un autre pour voir la montagne (LE Mirador). À l'accueil, belles installations et foyer au sous-sol. À voir!!

Nous avons fait la randonnée en raquette de la Vallée des Fantômes le 25 décembre 2013.Départ de l'accueil à 10:30 avec le Fantôme Express, un Ford Econoline aux roues remplacées par des chenillettes pour neige. La randonnée débute au pavillon Antoine Dubuc, au bord d'un lac. Déjà, le paysage est sublime.On enfile nos raquettes et on entreprend la première étape, qui doit nous mener au refuge, un parcours de 2,5 km avec une montée régulière. Les panneaux-question nous offrent l'occasion de reprendre notre souffle!Les sapins et épinettes enneigés sont omniprésents, on se sent dans un endroit vraiment spécial. L'appareil photo est de mise ! Au refuge, le guide-naturaliste du Fantôme Express a déjà préparé le feu. Dehors, le mercure indique -25 C mais nous n'avons pas froid, étant donné l'effort physique fourni pour monter. On en profite pour faire sécher nos vêtements et manger.On poursuit ensuite vers le sommet ou la vue sur l'ensemble de la région est féérique. Les arbres glacés agrémentent le tout. Le guide nous offre de faire un bout hors piste, ce qui fut le clou de la visite. Plusieurs se sont enfoncés dans la neige, mais tout se termine bien. Tous ont énormément apprécié.Je le recommande a tous, c'est un niveau intermédiaire, donc pas besoin d'être en super forme pour en profiter.

les chemins sont bien aménagés et balisés, vous avez le choix entre 1 ou plusieurs heures de marche dans une forêt sauvage et les refuges et points de vue vous laissent admirer un paysage somptueux (le Saguenay, le lac Saint Jean,etc.) et l'accueil au bureau du parc est chaleureux et souriant, super je vous dis...
