On a whim, while driving by, we followed the signs to the Chutes Coulonge, expecting a pretty panaramic view, from our car, of some waterfalls. WRONG ! - We were delighted to find a carefully thought-out, safe and nature-respecting environment where we enjoyed the pleasure of a walk under a canopy of mature trees, all the while hearing the falls and seeing the mist rising over the canyon. Without reserving ahead one cannot partake in the zip-lining or climbing along the falls that so many folks were clearly enjoying to the fullest. We were very impressed by the quality of the installations (safety, blending in with the landscape) and the attention paid to giving the visitor the history and grandeur of the logging world when Canada was young. The black and white photos montages with good explanations created a chronological story of the region's history. We'll reserve for the activities and plan to bring our grandchildren here too, all in all a wonderful surprise in a beautiful site. Well done ! Oh yes: Inexpensive ($8.00) for the self-guided tour.

The chutes provide an excellent get-away from the summer heat, being nestled in the well-treed west Quebec countryside. Apart from strolling along well cared for footpaths where you can take in the Coulonge River as it descends the gorge where the zipliners zip by with joyous screams of glee.Well worth an afternoon's visit where you can take in some of the Ottawa Valley logging and lumbering history .

We drove Chutes mid-May expecting the park would be open to enjoy the falls in their full glory with such a late melt and such high water. Our bad. Regrettably - due to high water and a very late Spring - the park was still closed. However - in response to an enquiring email to the park - the park staff responded beyond belief to accommodate another visit. And that we did ! Super high kudos to the park for such a warm, accommodating welcome last weekend - on a terrific sunny Saturday afternoon. The park has done a wonderful job of connecting the amazing regional logging history with a viewing of the falls. Great site, great bridges and walkways and a pleasure to roam at will - with the added bonus of fearless - and amazingly silent - zip liners buzzing across the lower chasm above our heads. it was an absolute pleasure to visit Chutes Coulonge again ! Living in the Ottawa Valley rocks ! Post script - while we didn't book a session on the forest / via ferrata / zip line option - nothing on that treat should be underestimated. All that is nothing but sheer adrenaline and FUN !

Hey everyone. I live in Coulonge. I moved here 4 years ago. I did because I fell in love with it. Chutes of Coulonge are the most beautiful falls in 300+kms. If you come you will not be disappointed. Come for the experience stay for the kinship!

Not that it was our intention, but we were the first couple to climb walk the Via Ferrata since the July 19th storm, that brought down trees and damaged to tree top walking course of the park. We may even have made the local evening news, who were present for the re-opening, but we didn't get to see it on TV.Out of a group of eight we were the only two that went through the complete course. It could be considered "rock climbing for dummies" with all the conveniently anchored steps in generous spacing and steel rope to tie off too along the way. It was exceptionally well done, with zip lines across the canyon, balancing along narrow beams and walking a tight rope bridge with convenient rope railings. A tremendous amount of fun, with a breathtaking view of the canyon that makes up the Coulonge River. A great way to safely get introduced to some aspect of rock climbing and heights. We had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this park to anyone with a spirit of adventure and love of nature. For a more detailed review, please check out our blog including pics and video: http://www.drdnaturopath.com/index.php/bon-echo-to-ottawa-part-3/

Sorry to say the day we picked to go was just after a big storm that did a lot of damage to the Chutes so it was closed temporarily. Really hope they can get it up & running again soon as we understand it is fantastic.

Never have done this before. Both my husband and I are seniors. We decide to try zip lining. The staff are very well trained, encouraging and patient. We did the 9 zip and the canyon. The water was not running but that did not detract from the experience.I was not sure that I was going further than the first parrot ladder climb. After encouragement from the staff and my husband I did the whole thing. Thanks guys. We had a great time!
